Lol, the article is basically is saying newer vehicles are more reliable, because they don’t have recalls?

perhaps this is a bit biased? Amount of recalls = how reliable it is?!!? pffft...

Titans aren't bad trucks but I swear they are all owned by people who seem to want them to turn into shit. Every one I've seen on the road is either crash damaged, paint faded, rusted, and just clapped out. It's like nobody who owns a Titan has any pride in ownership of one lol.

The 22 F-150 had I think something like 13 recalls, I don't believe 21 or 23 had as many recalls as the 22s. The 22 gets the more reliable rating?

I don’t take most of these online articles very seriously. There is no planet in this universe where the Gladiator is on top of the reliability rankings. My Jeep rental smelled like hot oil and coolant, which was still noticeable over the sickening smell of the uncured fiberglass coming from the top. Really horrible vehicle already with only 1,600 miles on it.

It seems like Nissan owners in general are hell bent on destroying their vehicles.

    Carbuzz, lol.

No doubt. There seems to be a competition in duct tape bodywork and trash bag window replacement.

I have owned a Ford F-250 that had over 400K on it when I sold it, a few Chevy Suburbans, a couple of them were great vehicles, one was a pile of shit. The many Toyota vehicles that I have owned have been some of the most reliable ones. It really is about taking care of them and hopefully the guy on the assembly line wasn't on drugs the day he slapped parts on it. Done.

Two weeks ago there was a little crash where two Nissans overlap crashed and both driver's side front ends were smashed up one Altima and the other looked like a Maxima but could have been an Altima. Don't forget about the G35 non drivers who think everything is a drift contest, and pop their exhaust all over your front bumper.

I opened this article expecting to see data (failure rates, number sold, number still on the road, reported issues, average mileage, etc., etc.), not a thinly veiled advertisement for new trucks. This doesn't tell me squat.

A company you’ve never heard of
With an article with a person you’ve never heard of
    Making obviously false claims

    does not make something reality

    a person claiming 2+2=5
Does not make it equal 5

pretty sure a 2023 gladiator is not reliable
I wish it was. It offers things that would be good. That Toyota could do but refuses to. Like solid axle. 4:1 tcase. Diesel.
    They’re not that reliable.

i feel like rating cars that are less than 10yr old as 'reliable' is horse hockey...
cars aren't reliable until they are at least 10+ yr old at a minimum

also, a chat bot could have written that article - lame AF

Alright I have to say it, it's my habit to come back around to my harsh deployments of /SNARK and do a little close-reading..

On further thought, Coventry (a city in the UK) is actually the heart of the UK automotive industry, and Coventry Univ. has a number of serious automotive-related programs. That said, the degree in Automotive Journalism looks a bit thin on technicals/physics/engineering background.

And I'm not basing my snark on the fact that she's (probably) a she -- more that she looks a bit young'n'fresh-faced to have much basis for coming up with an honest rubric by which to judge long-term vehicle reliability.

    https://www.coventry.ac.uk/course-structure/pg/fah/automotive-journalism-ma/

So I'll downgrade this to "snark-lite" and/or "circumstantial snark" -- if this young woman spends the next decade-plus driving & learning & writing she might start to turn out higher-quality articles.

Yeah I don't know where they come up with this stuff and it seems based on customer opinions. I guess the publish these articles to fill the que of articles to click when reading something else.

To be fair our tacomas aren’t American trucks.

If you wanted to get technical the ridgeline is the most “American made truck” currently for sale in the states and the gladiator is the only American based company in the top 10.

Agree with the sentiment here though that basing reliability and longevity on new trucks is dumb.

That being said, the Tacoma has been in production for 30 years and it’s still not on the longevity list. The tundra is, despite being in production for less time. You guys can Google what other models round out the top three or I’m sure you can probably guess.

Tacomas are excellent trucks that fill many roles. They have their quirks but are mainly reliable and have displayed great longevity in case to case basis. Does that statistically make them the greatest thing ever made? No.
