I daily drove my 1st gen on BFG KM2 load range e for like 8yrs and they were great in everything but light snow, but that's any MT. They ride fine, just don't air them up to like 75psi. I call BS on anyone that claims they can tell that an E rides worse than a non e rated tire. If I was DD a Tacoma again I would get some KM3s. I currently have pro comp MT2's which I love, but my trucks a highway worthy wheeler now.

Toyo R/T Trail... highway noise not that noticeable.

General grabber mt seem ok on my f350. M/t wouldn't be my choice but they came with the truck. Decent in rain and are quieter than I expected but still hum. Some like it I don't.

I opted for Duratrac E-load because I wanted grip and durability off the pavement. These tires laugh at stuff that punctured the OEM "Kevlar" junk.

Yes, they're heavy. Yes, they ride rough at 40PSI (happy for the softer OR suspension here!). No, I don't find them too obnoxious on the highway. Anything too quiet is either a trade-off or a miracle of engineering.

Driving around the past few days with my winter sandbags plus some firewood made a noticeable improvement on how the tires ride... though it did put the truck at a noticeable angle.

Granted, the problem with tires is that it's hard for the average person to compare one versus another changing only the tire variable. That said, I'd say so if these tires weren't doing what I bought them for.

Maybe I’m too late and you already made up your mind OP, but check out the Maxxis Razr MT. I’m surprised no one has recommended them in this thread yet. They’re the only mud tire that comes with a treadwear warranty and a lot of people say their road manners are comparable to an aggressive all terrain or hybrid tire.

    .
    I believe it's a LT E rated 10 ply with a 3 ply sidewall

edit: after checking tire a it's actually 2 ply

Some of the E load are 3 and some are 2. If you have a chance you can read the ply info off the sidewall itself. I would be curious to know.

    I'll second this.

I think it depends on the specific tire more than load range. In my case, I have a set of LT/C 285/70/17 Toyo AT3's, and a set of LT/E 295/70/17 Yokohama Geolandar MT's, and I swear the Yokohamas ride smoother. The Toyos are definitely quieter, but they seem to ride harsher. I run 35 psi in both sets. Ymmv

I've ran e rated tires for the last 40 years and love them... except for the washboards. Run 32 -34 psi.
