I have a set of Trail blade Atturo tires (35/12.5/20 MT) and less than 2 years later , all 4 tires are cupped. My ride has always been stiff and shaky, feeling every crack in the road but now that they are cupped, my ride is like a gold miners rail cart. Im looking to buy the most comfortable / aggressive looking all terrain tire.

    Any recommendations?

I would look into why your tires are getting cupped etc before buying new tires. Sounds like there are some other issues going on there.

I verified the allignment and suspension are both perfect. Rotated the tired every 5000 miles. The dealer, the off road specialist and discount tire don't know why since we all eliminated the traditional causes.

My suspicion is just atturos are not only cheap tires but are the reason for the extremely rough obnoxious ride. Has anyone ever ran atturos and experience the same issue?

You're looking for two different attributes that are often at odds with each other. If you want a more comfortable ride try to find a P-rated tire, but the more aggressive it looks the greater the likelihood that it will ride rough.

P metric tires start with P265/70R16 etc. SL tires are written the same as heavy duty but SL is stated after.

Basically a tire with less steel ply and lighter, meaning more flex and better give on the road.

Toyo Open Country A/T and Nitto Terra Grapplers come in light duty tires. They are cheaper but also have less tread depth and appear less edgy due to the softer sidewalls.

Looking at Nitto's website you likely won't find a tire in the size you need that is less than E-rated. The tire rating tells you how much a tire can hold and the higher the rating the stiffer and heavier it will be. P-rated tires are plenty for a Tacoma but they don't seem to make them in 35s.

    You betcha

Alignment typically doesn't cause 'cupping'. Feathering, scalloping, inner or outer edge wear, etc.

Suspension can certainly contribute to cupping. How was it verified perfect?

That is a great practice, and it shows because all 4 are cupped.

Seems odd. How about pressures? Did you ever (before damage started) use a tread chalk test to determine a proper pressure for your setup? It's a great way to visually prove a good contact patch.

I agree with others though. An aggressive tire and lush ride are not a natural combo. My thought would be to select a tire for how the vehicle is used 80% of the time, and up your enjoyment level.

I heard mud terrain tires if used primarily for the highway, they will eventually cup?

    Any truth to this?

The more aggressive the tread the faster they will wear down but not necessarily cup. Several other reasons for cupping.

265/75/R16 and that has worked out well no contact at any point of turns on or off road and no reduction in the MPG for it only thing that stands out is at 70 Mph the GPS says I am doing 3 Mph faster than the Truck speedo

Hankook atm or my favorite right now Falken wildpeak at3. Like others said above try to find a P or C rated. Less plys equals less weight equals smaller reduction in mpgs and better ride. E rated are tough and can carry a lot for weight but are over rated for Tacoma’s and you really have to play with tire pressures to get it right depending on the size tire you get and the mfg determines if that particular tire is available in p or c. Put hankook p’s on wife’s xterra and they’re great for her needs- 265/75/16. I have bfg ko2 on my Tacoma and they’re ok thus far but if I were to do it over I would have gotten the Falken. I think they’re better and cheaper. For everyday driving I run about 28-30 psi- 285/75/16 in load range E.

Just got it!! Last guy did a couple things.... some good, some bad.. Jump forward almost 2 weeks, I’ve put on a HS Off-road 2” lift kit with 5100s all around, new springs, and a AAL in the rear, with TRD 17x7” SEMA wheels wrapped in 255-80-17 Toyo Open Country ATs Installed InSight Retrofits HIDs, look friggin' sweeeet Husky Weatherbeater Action onboard
Just put Toyo Open Country ATs on today. So far very quiet, decently aggressive looking for an AT. Will hopefully test them off-road in the next couple of days... and they are lighter than most other tires of the same size/style.

Toyos are probably the roundest tire out there, I know that sounds whack because you assume all tires are round, but this is actually not the case. Toyos by far are some of the easiest to balance out of a bunch of tires. You can’t go wrong with those tires. My only complaint is when they get worn down, they loose traction on wet grass. I say this as I have three sets on different trucks. The FJ Cruiser spins out going up in the backyard. But as far as an all purpose tire, hard to beat. I will be trying out those new Falkens everyone is talking about to get my thoughts on those as well.
