Does anyone know if it is still filled with rocks or have they been removed?

Was thinking of running a short portion of it with a friend next weekend who is coming from Vegas.

Still filled in from what I heard a couple weeks ago, the company that filled it in to do construction in the area is supposed to remove it when they're done. I'm not sure when that happens though.

yeah a Subaru would not make it through if it wasn't filled in lol. I've done it a couple times in my 04 before I had my snorkel on, once it was easy and the second time it was pretty deep. I hugged the right side to keep my air intake higher up which worked well, except for a rock I hit under the water that nearly flopped me over lol.

Anyway yeah, when it's not filled in the water level can vary a bit but most any of our trucks would be fine esp if you have a lift and bigger tires. But not a Subaru

haha I got a little over 2 inches of lift with 32's - The subi is lifted with bigger BFG's but it still low overall. Getting that thing stuck in there would ruin a fun day trip for sure.

You can bypass the water crossing. I went there before it was filled in. Didnt want to risk it so I followed this map to avoid it:

Yeah the bypass is a good 10 miles before the water crossing so it's good to know beforehand if that's what you wanna do. There's no way around the water crossing once you get to it, even though people try it's illegal to drive on the marshy land around it. And of course do not attempt to cross via the railroad bridge lol. It's a very active railroad.

Looks to be about 3 inches deep.

Also, your truck is having a seizure with the PWM DRL lights.

I thought it was just the frame rate of the iPhone. Maybe I’ll check my connections today. But yeah, not deep at all.

Yeah, it's the rolling shutter of camera phones combined with the pulse width modulation supplied voltage to the LEDs to run them less than 100% on. I hate all new vehicles that do this because my human eyes see the flickering at night.
Sorry to derail the thread. I hope to one day do the Mojave Trail since I've got the guide book.

Its very much worth it, I've done it twice and aside from the very beginning and end, each time was vastly different as far as sites we saw, where we camped, terrain we covered etc. There's so much to see along the way, the longer a trip you can make of it the better imo.

Better try to do it soon, every time I go I see more and more tagging and trash. Along with a bunch of drug needles.

Very sad since it such a beautiful area.
