moisture in headlight

So I'm asking for tips to remove moisture in headlight assembly without having to take headlight assembly off below I'll post picture of how I'm currently doing it but open for suggestions and no I'm not buying new headlight assembly

I think there's a spot you can add dessicant.

 

Wait for it to dry and get some 30 year outdoor caulk in clear and seal it up.

No clue really but that's what I would do and it would probably work.

Its never a fun thing to try to fix. Make sure you get them 100% dry first, check all your bulbs are seated, nothing came unplugged, etc. Maybe throw a couple silica packs in there and hope it doesn't come back.

 

Isnt there a giant door/plug on the bottom of the headlight? You might have to remove the whole thing to get to dry out.

 

You cannot seal it up totally. It has a vent and the air inside needs to expand and contract as the lamp warms it up. If you perfectly seal it, the vacuum will break the seal as it cools down, and moist air will get trapped in there for sure.

This probably happened to you because the vent is plugged, or there is a small crack. Remove the headlight housing, make sure the seam is sealed (add caulking if you have to) but also make sure the breather vent is clean and clear. I believe it has a gortex membrane in it, so don’t poke at it too much.

Didn't know there was a drain I will have to locate thank you ,the hair dryer and vacuum hose works just takes long time

 

So I found that neopreme plug but then I found this and unscrewed and water was collected in cap wonder if the rubber o ring is bad ?



The plastic cab is right inline with the vents for our intakes in the fender well plastic liner

 

I'm pretty sure I need to replace the oring and my problem is fixed

 

Rinse with 80% or higher alcohol it will remove the water, and will evaporate in seconds. Regarding caulking-I don't know, but 100% silicon sealant, will be safe around continued high heat for many years.

 

Well this morning I'll head out with my cup of coffee and cigarette and inspect headlight see if any moisture came back and if I don't see any throughout the day means I got I'll post later
