When is a good month to hit any of the national or state parks or other good areas in Utah. Trying to avoid summer heat, crowds and flash floods.

That’s what I was thinking, thanks! Anywhere good to go other than the big parks? Trying to stay away from crowds. Just a stock Tacoma so can’t wheel too hard

    for Moab ^this^
The best time to visit any National Park is September for the northern parks, Glacier, Yellowstone. And, October for the southern Utah parks. Lots of people know to go in the late fall so don't expect to have Moab to yourself, but it shouldn't be too crazy. As for good places to go, well there are a lot. Just depends on what you're into. From a wheeling perspective look at these ratings:

    https://www.rr4w.com/ratings.cfm
    Do what you're comfortable with.

Here are some of the trails with ratings
    https://www.rr4w.com/Trails-Home.cfm

If you like hiking you can do any trail that sounds interesting. Having sold my rock crawler this is my favorite activity. I get 80% of the fun of wheeling, watching other fools break expensive stuff, with none of the expenses.

Just came back from a 2 week overlanding trip that started in Calgary, AB.
We left Calgary May 19th, overnighted first night in Boulder MT and woke up with 5" of wet snow
    Galena Gulch
45 Galena Gulch Road, Boulder, MT
    GPS: 46.254329 - 112.183692
Second night we stayed at Goodenohh Campground near Pocatello and the weather was nice, a bit cold at night but not bad.
Then in Moab we stayed at Horsethief - BLM campsite was great, we camped there for 3 nights and drove around the Moab area every day.
Then we went to the Grand Canyon and stayed at Ten X for one night before driving to Hill Country TX where we camped for a cpl nights and rented a cabin for 3 nights.
Weather in Moab was great in late May and not nearly as hot as Texas

October is great for weather in Moab, not so great for crowds.

Make sure you watch the weather for the extended area as well. Just because it isn't raining in Moab doesn't mean it isn't raining up the road, and all that water has to drain down through the canyons and gullies.

Moab gets snow, which turns the clay down there into the slipperiest and stickiest substance know to mankind.

April / May are also fairly safe times to head to the Moab area
