    Hi All

I noticed that my fuel filler neck no longer has the metal flap that depresses when you put the gas nozzle in there. A quick internet search said this is now normal? Anyone have clarity? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Runs like a top, no performance issues due to it.

Consider yourself lucky, when I went in for a fuel pump recall the dealer charged me $535 because I have a long range fuel tank. They also happened to not tighten the driveshaft middle bracket causing the driveshaft to fall down onto the exhaust pipe and make a ton of noise and vibration. I rigged the driveshaft at home with hardware I had on hand and took it back to the dealer, no apologies no refunds, they tightened it up and told me to go home. I submitted a service note to Toyota to let them know about the quality at that dealership, hopefully it drives improvement for that location.

If anyone lives around Minneapolis dont take your truck to Luther Brookdale Toyota, unless you like your drive shaft falling off after a service.

Has anyone else found that since then the cap is very difficult to put on? The fuel neck has a ton of play now and I feel like putting the cap back on is more of an art.

Mine never had one... pretty sure none of them do. The only time you have a flap is for the capless systems like Ford has.

Picture of my 2020 attached shortly after I bought it.

What's this flap you speak of?

It's a little metal flap that slides open when you insert the fuel nozzle. My Subaru has it and I believe my old Nissan had it as well. It basically would prevent fuel vapors from slowly leaking out of the fuel cap over time. I just noticed the other day that my Tacoma doesn't have it and found it to be odd. My guess is they changed something that prevents fuel vapor from slowly evaporating over time eliminating the need for the flap.

Yeah my Subaru has the flap. Maybe it's necessary on vehicles with the 1/4-turn fuel cap design instead of the fully threaded type. My previous 2nd gen Tacoma (2010, fully threaded cap) didn't have the flap; neither does my current truck.

My 2018 TRDOR had the flap. I had the pump replaced a month ago. I just went and looked and I no longer have the flap so they did remove it or swap out the part.

Just to give you a idea, I have taken my truck to them 4 times, and all 4 times I have had to return because they broke something, didnt do something, or did something wrong. The last and final straw was I went to get a oil change from them. They left oil all over dripping, they forgot to put the lock back onto my fumoto valve, they cross threaded the skid plate bolts, and they didnt air up the tires. First time I went they put a stain in my seat and didnt align the truck so the steering wheel was crooked, second time they ripped my seat stitching by having a screw driver in his pocket. They have scratched my truck a few times. They diagnosed ice packed between the frame and body as a bad strut. I took it in one because my door striker was rusting (its stainless steal and was rusting at the weld) they said it looked like I spilled something on it.... something that only damaged the weld area and not any of the paint around it.

They are absolute trash at walser and the bald dipshit of a manager is a idiot.
