Hey guys, I bought this truck used. I thought my truck bed bolts were coming loose, as it turns out it is missing the bed mounts.

What would be the correct part to order to fix this issue. Apparently they also cut into the bed to make it mount without them.

Any reason why someone would do this?

Reference pic below to see cab and bed not lining up.

    Thanks

    - Luke

Any more pics of what is going on with your bed? Like an actual bed shot?

So the 6 massive bolts that should mount to the frame are missing?

Could’ve been in a collision, rear bumper doesn’t line up with the bed either.

This isn’t the apparent bolt part number:

    64189-04020

Edit; but you reference “bed mount” so what exactly are you referring to?

All I can think of is like said above it’s been wrecked, or they were doing a home brew fix to a loose bed issue (bed mounts wear down over time and you get a lot of play, no longer tight)

I think this is as I thought. Guy had a bed wear issue maybe due to some heavy loads given its only a 2011 and tried a home brew fix that was craptastic. Or I can only guess.

Here is a thread that explains it:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tacoma-loose-bed-design-flaw-explanation.388873/

maybe some sort of spacer between metal frame mount portion to take up the gap difference can help. The thread I linked I think also has some solutions.

I’m just guessing, but based on your pics it looks like a lot of intentional cutting was done in an attempt to fix the issue, but all the cutting was not a correct solution.

Wasn't there a thread on this? Something about the bed bushings wearing out, thus causing the bolts to loosen or appear like they do?

I searched for a little, but couldn't find it.

Maybe someone else can dredge it up...or was something about the rubber mounts/bushings settling and causing the bolts to pop up like yours.

Remove bolts, lift bed, make cardboard templates to match the missing sections and write the height needed on each template, take templates to local machine shop to be made into aluminum spacers. Put aluminum spacers in place, bolt down, enjoy corrected bed height.

This that and the other thing.
    x2 ^^

I would suggest some sort or spacer between the frame mount and the bed itself that is the same thickness of how much the bolt is sticking out the top. or you can also take the bolt out and cut the sleeve back so that way everything actually tightens. either way, nothing will be an idea fix since it looks like the bed was cut lol

Body lift removed? Car dealers can't sell a vehicle with a body lift due to liability?

I would probably cobble something together in my garage out of spare steel or aluminum stock, but your way is likely prettier.
