I have been shopping for bumpers and cannot make up my mind.

I like the idea of a full wrap around bumper, like so https://sdhqoffroad.com/collections...road-baja-front-bumper?variant=39374309916772

But the minimalist winch mount / push bar bumpers are considerably lighter ( and cheaper), and since I am only planning on getting 1.5 inches out of bilstein 5100s that weight savings is considerable.

this is what I am thinking of https://sdhqoffroad.com/collections...road-baja-front-bumper?variant=39374309916772

Any thoughts? I am used to driving a jeep or old truck and am not the most careful offroad.

Anyone get one and wish they had the other?

I have a full bumper on my 4Runner and ordered a smaller, center-only for my Tacoma.

You get more clearance in the front with the full bumper. This was more important for me on the 4R. The Tacoma with lift has a good amount of clearance with the stock bumper. You get more protection, assuming you're adding a bull bar or headlight loops. Without those, the extra protection is minimal enough I wouldn't consider it an advantage.

The downside is you open you engine compartment to more dirt and grime and you look like you're driving an off-road vehicle, which may or may not be desirable (personal preference). You also add more weight. Lastly, cost.

I appreciate it. My thought is get the center only bumper now, as its significantly cheaper and will affect the suspension less.

3 or 4 years down the road when I plan to put on a 2 - 3 inch lift I could get the full bumper and dial in the suspension for the 100 or so extra pounds

I started out with a basic ome lift and a warn half bumper. Now I have an ADS 2.5 setup and a full steel bumper. All about budget really

Southern Style Offroad offers a bumper that might be what you are looking for. It is a hybrid, starts as a simpler bumper and then you can attach extensions later. Not sure if there are other manufacturers that have anything like that.

Do you feel this is a drastic difference between the half bumper and full?

They were the original. I had their middle slimline and then added the corners when I sunk some money into the headlights. Super nice product.
