(2nd Gen) Any one been able to use mini-USB drives to play music? I don't mean drives longer than 1 inch, I'm referring to the 3'4" long drives, see pic. My cars (Toy and GM) say "incompatible" no matter if the drive is formatted NTFS or FAT. I'm currently using one of the longer drives but my Garmin bumps into it at certain angles :)

Being an IT guy, this could be the size of the drive, whatever operating system radio runs on is only program to accept so big of the USB device connected to it
just for a test if you had a one gig or a 4 Gig Flash Dr. see if that shows incompatible

I know I have an old GEN five iPod touch and I plug that into my radio and I have no issues with that and that’s 32 gig

Very good suggestion, I know smaller mem capacity drives work, the current physically longer USB drive is 32gb and it works fine, I'll need to see if I can buy a smaller memory size in the 3/4" drive. After looking a bit there are lots in the smaller sizes but another consideration is the USB version (1-3, etc.) , going to order a 2.0 version to try, will update, thanks for the idea.

I second this. A terabyte is probably too large for the infotainment OS to handle.

I use a 32GB drive (size as pictured 3/4") formatted exFAT, and it holds well over 1500 MP3's - using just under 7GB, and it works just fine.

I have a modded 512gb IPod 5th Gen that I used for years in the truck before the radio gave up the smoke. While it worked it never worked great and for the truck I would make playlist because scrolling through thousands of songs gets old on the radio. Meanwhile the IPod had 10 year older tech in it and was more intuitive.

My $.02 worth: I have a 2014 Taco with stock Entune system (non-nav.) I'm using a SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 64GB USB 2.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive formatted to exFAT. It's nearly full with MP3s, and works perfectly. One thing to consider is that some systems (don't know about ours) want the music in folders, not all off the root.

has nothing to do with the physical size of the drive, the radio has no clue as to the physical size of the drive thats plugged in.

What is the problem is the storage capacity, like stated that 1TB drive is likely above the limits of the radio's software.

I use a San Cruser and, if memory serves me, I formatted in FAT32. I had to download a small free program because FAT32 was no an option in my Windows 10 Home.

Thanks guys for the info, I just received a Sandisk Cruzer Fit 16gb flash drive to try in my '14 Taco and Hooray, it works greats, 500+ songs loaded and still have lots more room, very small drive does not interfere with anything and holds all the music and audio books that I'll probably ever need. Great help!

That's exactly what I've been using since I bought my truck in 2014. I hate that it can't read specific folders like if I wanted to build a Playlist. As a work around, I retag the songs I want as a certain genre and select the music by genre. Ie, I have a genre called Driving and it's all the songs I listen to on a constant basis.
