Hopefully I’m posting this in an okay section(If not maybe a mod can move it). I recently received a Miller Bluestar 2e powered by a tecumseh oh160 that was my grandfathers. I’ve got the engine part running fine. Now the welder/generator on the other hand has some issues. When in generator mode it will barely power a grinder maybe half speed. And while in weld mode it’ll barely make an arc. Any input would be appreciated.

Have you looked at the Brushes ??

Maybe dress the slip rings those are where the brushes ride.

Is the RPM up to what it needs to be ?? It does idle up when a load is put on ?/

    Dirty outlets

You might still be able to download the user manual Yes you can!

Some of those older ones for auxiliary power the rheostat needs to be turned all the way up .

So I got her welding again.. I did replace the brushes and clean the slip rings which I’m sure helped since the welder was built in 1979. But turns out the my uncle had replaced a rectifier back in the 90s when he was trying to get it running. Thanks to the online manuals with wiring diagrams I was able to figure out that he had just gotten two wires in the wrong places .. corrected that and now it runs just fine.
