I'm considering buying a set of these for the purpose of BIGGER so I can be naughty with my 2wd.

How are your experiences with this tire or brand? They seem to have much siping, 3peak rated, and fairly light in E load.

I was also interested in them but they aren’t making them in the two sizes I wanted (265/75/16 & 285/75/16) even though they have those sizes listed on their website.

    That's disappointing, I'd be looking at 265 75 16

i randomly saw this tire at WalMart while getting new tires for my wifes car. I had not heard of them before, but they look nice, I really like the tread pattern. Would love to hear your thoughts if you get them.

Yeah I PM’d Discount Tire and they confirmed those sizes are not available and Milestar has no ETA on when they will be available. Even though Milestar has them listed on their site.

Taiwanese tires with the mountain snowflake symbol. I don’t know why I’m always skeptical about stuff like this.

Our used RAV came with Milestars on it. (not like these of course)

Was happy when we replaced them, realizing they had been a contributor to a rougher-than-it-should-be-in-a RAV ride

    Maybe that's a consideration?

We ran these for about 30k on one of our shop trucks. We now have a set of X/Ts on our Bronco, and have installed them on a couple different customer vehicles. No complaints from anyone (including us) as of yet!

Shameless plug, but we can get them for you here at Hotshot Offroad. Just shoot me a message with your size, model, and where they're headed and I can put a quote together.

Sorry to resurrect this ancient thread. But these tires seem pretty good and there's no info about them anywhere. Does anybody have any real world experience with them?

Yep, Both me and a buddy have these tires. Not much has been said because the roll out of different sizes has been very slow! The LT265/75-16 has been out for several months, but the LT285/75-16 has only been available for a couple of months. Be aware that the 265 is available in both an LT and SL version. Make sure you buy the right one! My initial impressions are very positive. Compared to my last 2 sets of tires, which were Yokohamas, these tires are a big improvement for my use. I'm running the LT285s
    Pros:
    1. Very light weight! These are perhaps the lightest tires in their class. They are 14lbs lighter than my Yokos, and that affects everything from acceleration to braking. Even though the 285 is listed at 51.8lbs, mine weighed 49 lbs on a calibrated scale!
    2. They are very soft riding, despite being E rated, especially offroad. MUCH softer than the Yokos. I found that most E rated tires run pretty stiff on Tacomas. Even pretty heavy ones. This tire does not.
    3. Not surprisingly, my fuel economy appears to have jumped up, possibly as much as 2mpg. More data needed. My acceleration is noticeably better, which is no surprise since I have eliminated 56 lbs of rotating mass!
    4. Offroad, the traction on every surface I have tried is awesome. I have not run them in deep mud yet, but I am expecting acceptable performance.
    5. They are still pretty new, but so far quiet.

So far I am super happy with them, and I kind of think they are one of the best kept secrets out there in tires. I'll bet that changes as people find out. This tire is the most advanced in the Milestar lineup. It uses their high strength "Miletech" rubber compound, which I guess is why it is so light. It is the only Patagonia model made in the USA (Tennessee). All the rest are made in Taiwan I believe. I don't know why. I have not tried them in every condition yet, nor have I seen how they wear. The typical Milestar MTs do not come with any mileage guarantee, but these actually do! I think 55K miles. That said, the rubber seems soft, so I won't be surprised to see 25-30K out of them. I don't run my tires past about 1/3 tread. One thing to watch is air pressure. These tires are a bit of an odd duck, which I think is part of their secret sauce. They are a crowned carcass design, which means that the tread does not run flat on the road unless it is under inflated. These tires need higher pressure in general, and should only be running on the middle, maybe 80% of the tread. Running them low will cause all kinds of problems, including premature wear. Most of the negative comments I have seen regarding Milestar tires stem from under inflation.

Thanks for your reply and all the details/tips about the tires.

I can get a great deal on these, so I've been lurking for a while. I think I might just bite the bullet and try them too. I spent a long time staring at the catalog. Now, it's pretty hilarious to look at it when considering the little orange dot that says coming soon lol. There were so many different options I was trying to choose between, but most of them aren't available. Unfortunately theres no 255/80/18, which is the tire size I'd really love to try. Interestingly, what is available is the LT275/70/17. There's not very many of these out there. They seem like a great middle ground between the 265s and 285s, for obvious reasons.

I'm still debating though between the load C and load E. You definitely ease my concerns discussing how soft the tire is. I'm on the west coast, so lots of rocky trails. You think load E is the way to go? I see both load E light truck and load sl are available in 265 and 285...

Thanks for posting such a detailed review. I was trying to buy a set of these a while ago but Milestar hadn’t realized the size I wanted yet. I’m glad to see they’re releasing more sizes finally!
