The gasket is to keep water from getting in between master and booster. There is a seal like the one in the link that seals the vacuum.

they have a thin wax gasket from factory but its no big deal if yours is missing you can make a new one from wax paper if you like.

as mentioned its just there to keep water out if your hosing off under the hood

I can see this now time to source a new booster the liquid brine will be in there and it will crumble to pieces here one day soon

I would much rather rebuild a frame then mess with a brake booster only because of the location

    Great.

But its masking the real problem of the seal inside booster that seals around the rod or master cylinder leaking.

just pull the master cylinder out a little bit and add a smear of silicone behind it and then your good or just make a gasket for it. dont even need to disconnect the brake lines. the vacuum seal is around the inner cylinder part and not where the flange part is anyway

How well will this work? It seems that I may be having the same leak.

this comment was only about how to replace the dust seal between the master cylinder and the brake booster. it doesn't do anything but keep stuff from getting in there if you hose down stuff under the hood.

if you have a leak of vacuum around the inner seal then that is something different and most likely you need a new brake booster if the seal wasn't just pushed out of place where it can just be repositioned properly. I guess it wouldn't hurt to pull the master cylinder out and see what the seal looks like but brakes are something not worth taking chances with. when it comes to brakes, if there is ANY doubt, just put new parts in to replace it. brake failure CAN literally kill you
