Little teaser pic of some 35s I mounted up today on a second set of wheels I found locally.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs 255/85/17 (35x10R17) 63lbs.

The TRD off-road wheels weigh 27lbs if anyone cares.

I removed the crash pad, not entirely sure it would’ve mattered though. They seem to clear everything without rubbing. I do have one inch Spidertrax installed along with coilovers and rear coils.

It was dark and rainy, will get some better pics up tomorrow.

I’ll be driving it to work tomorrow and will have a better update on them.

I prefer a tall skinny tire also. I saw a show that tested the contact patch of wide vs narrow tires and the narrow tire actually had the largest patch. Kind of counter intuitive but makes sense after seeing the video.

    What is a crash pad?

Same. Always liked a skinny tire.

Im not sure if that’s the correct name for it. But it’s the removable piece that is behind the front wheels. Normally where previous Tacoma’s would do cab mount chops to clear larger tires. It just unblots and gives a lot more space to fit larger tires.

At places like tire rack the that is the only tire in a 255 85 17. The specs seem great on it. Almost made me want to go to a 17 inch wheel. I'm looking forward to updates on what you think of them.

Got a chance to put 75 miles on them today. Overall impressions:

    • They are quiet on the freeway, considering how aggressive they look
    • A fare amount more firm than my P285/70/17s
    • I’m running about 40psi front/38psi rear. May need to make an adjustment(chalk test?)
    • The motor is barely affected. Uses more boost obviously, but doesn’t downshift any more than before
    • Roll smoothly and turn-in is sharp
    • Was able to use dash instrument cluster to register a second set of wheels/TPMS after a few tries

@Gmak621 How are these Mickies holding up? Are you still liking them? How are the MPGs?

Wish we had more than one tire choice in 255/85/17!

Pretty good so far. These are my second set of wheel/tires I use in the winter months. They’re heavy but ride pretty well and track pretty well. Did excellent in heavy snow, and good in rain. I recently switched back to my smaller set of 285/70/17. MPGs with the 35s was 16mpg and mpgs with the 33s are 19mpgs
