Had these installed in September and love them. Went from KO2 275/70r17s. They're 295/70r17s on a 8" wide Aluminum flow formed FN Six shooter 0 offset. Have a CMC and pushed back firewall with a 2.6" lift on King shocks and Camburg UCAs. Rears are on Icon RXT Leafs option 3 on King ext travel rears.

They weight in at 70lbs per tire and 90lbs with the rim. They're just as quiet as the KO2's in my opinion with WAY better handling in the rain. Maybe the increased weight has something to do with them but my KO2's always had issues with traction in the rain on roads even when new. They're definitely an aggressive AT.20220912_171041.jpg IMG_20221226_204233_677.jpg 20230127_142326_2.jpg

Is it true that tire thread depth is 16/32 on sl tires? Could any of you that does NOT have E rated confirm?

Other thing that I noticed looking at videos online is the E rated ones have much larger side lugs than sl ones with disappoints me a bit…

    thanks!

but I may insist on differences….

    please see below:

I see differences on this two tires side lugs or is it the picture?

On @kyle4uscav picture, the side bites are very aggressive.

    F0ED7BA2-81EB-4281-84DB-22E2C84838B4.jpg

But on @incogneato the side bites are way less aggressive
    53754110-E008-4125-BD7E-6E114D7DF018.jpg

Both claim that have same SL rated tire..

If you could, please explain and maybe take a pic of side lettering. Or maybe it is the picture of @incogneato that is deceiving??

Maybe I am wrong or there is a noticeable difference? On MT web page there is two types of Baja boss.. an SUV one and a “regular one” I would say? Maybe this is the difference?

I will buy this tires this year when my oem ones die… but I would not want to buy the wrong spec and get tiny side biters…

    Thanks in advance.

Going on 2 months with mine. 295/70/17 on zero offset Method 703s. These things are an absolute weapon on the dirt and deep sand. Really love their road manners and lack of noise. Went from 265/75/16 Wildpeaks and was so shocked how much quieter they are. LXGG8513.jpg

The SUVs are billed as the lighter alternative. SUVs are: 'passenger-rated', not LT-rated, have less aggressive sidebiters and lack a rim protector.
Generally, when the same tire is available in both passenger and LT ratings, LTs have a deeper tread depth. 16/32" is pretty deep for a passenger tire. It's why I was dubious and asked about it previously. The same size tire in LT is 18.5/32". That said, LTs have a higher replacement tread depth of 2/32"-3/32".

thanks for the explanation. So I have to make sure my tire would be LT then. I would kick me in the b@lls if I knew this after purchase…

You are either very flexible or need to see a urologist.

LOL!!!!! I have to admit that I am not on my best shape historically… with 3 kids below 4 yo I don’t have time to exercise.. so with some embarrassment I’ll have to choose the second one… the urologist haha

but coming bay to the root of the conversation, I just realized that LT is or equals to E rating… which means around 12 or 13 pounds more than the oem tires which seems to me a lot…

my fear is to go from average 18mpg to 15 or so… I daily drive my truck and would not want to suffer a steep from on mpg…

To be or not to be…..the dilema… lame side biters and same mpg or serious manly side biters with a cost…

    Yep; no free lunch...

I have been planning on getting the Boss A/T SUVs eventually.
    I currently have the KO2 LT265/75/16/E(53lbs); I couldn't imagine going to a 58 lb tire.
I have no need for the more robust construction of an E-rated tire I once did.
To be honest, I am really looking forward to having a 42 lb tire.

The less aggressive sidebiters appeal to me more as well, as they won't collect and retain as much mud. I don't go mudding per se, but do collect a bit of it on construction sites. I hate being 2 miles down the road and still expelling mud.

Haven't had a chance to do a chalk test, but what is everyone running on the SL models?

You'll get a lot of subjective answers...

    What load rating?
    Example: 265/75R16/116T
    116 is the load rating

Technically, you only need 27 psi.
Your OE tire was a 112 load rating @ 30 psi, for a load capacity of 2,149 lbs.
A 116 load rating accomplishes this @ 27 psi, with a load capacity of 2,178 lbs.

If you were to fill your 116 to 30 psi, it would be comparable to filling your OE tire to 35 psi.

Sweet man! I actually just put 29.2 cold.

On that note, I had these put on Saturday. The shop to me I had a bent wheel and that one tire was hard to balance out. I have Volk Rays TE37x.

I had the rims tested today and it’s not the rims. That one tire is out of round and goes up and down about 3/4”. So I’m out $40 but am getting a new tire. Bastards!

    16x8?
That's 1/2" wider than the measuring rim width(7.5") for that tire.
This means your section width is 2/10" wider...your tire is a little more voluminous than it would be on a 7.5" rim width.
So, 29 psi is probably a great number.
