Well I’m thinking the defenders as I know they have a massive following.
Went to Canadian Tire today and they recommended the General grabbers over the defenders and said most of their customers say the grabbers have superior ride.

Anyone here that chose the grabbers over the defenders? Or have experience with both? Pros/cons of each?

Not really looking for suggestions of other tires please

I bought my '19 manual Sport in another state and drove it home (330 miles) on the stock Destination LE2's and immediately replaced all four with Grabber AT2's ( https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/general-grabber-at2 ) and noticed they were just as quiet, if not more, than the Firestones at highway speeds and also had a much more aggressive tread pattern for going up in the mountains and playing in the snow. $840 (ouch!) but I think it was well-spent and that price included free replacement for any reason for the life of the tire. They say they have a 60k warranty but I've heard they are lucky to last 50k so I guess I will see.

In other news, if anyone is interested in a set of four Firestone Destination LE2 tires that are practically brand new I'm sure I can make a deal! (lol)

Been driving well over 40 years and have run a lot of tire brands and run many of them until tread was gone ... . I had 2 full new sets of Michelin . I Just loved them. The ride, the wear, the traction, etc. I have been talked out of buying Michelins many times - and each time I regretted it !! Although they are a little more $'s I'll not buy another set unless they are Michelin . JMO

This is what I want to hear lol. I’m pretty sure that the defenders are like a better overall tire, where as grabbers might have better highway performance and ride comfort?

I have no experience with the General Grabbers but I ran the Michelin's on my Explorer years ago. They were a great tire with good traction in rain and dry. They were quiet too. I was going to buy a set for the motorhome before I came across a clearance set of Canadian Tire brand Motormaster A/T2's. They are a Cooper rebrand tire. Pretty happy with them too.

The sales guy in Canada pushed me away from the Michelins because he said people never get the full rated tread mileage out of them due to the chip seal roads up there. Granted that was the Yukon, so maybe its different on your side of Canada, but it might be worth considering.

My family has run Michelin's since forever and I'm on my second set on the Nissan - they're excellent tires. No experience with the generals.

I live down 1.5miles of flint dirt road that's hell on tires. Michelin Defenders will last until they are worn down to the wear bars where other tires get cut but they don't last very long. Wife just had the ones on her SUV prorated out due to being worn out in 20,000 miles.

My FIL put General Grabbers on his 2014 Taco, drove it down my road within the first couple weeks of having them and went out to a flat--cut right thru the tread into the carcass. I've never done that on a Michelin but dang, they are pricey.

Had LTS II on my '07 and got 77,000 miles out of the first set. Have them on my '17 at 33,00 miles and still have 6/32". $248.00 each to replace in my area. I gotta' while.

I've had both Defenders and Generals on my son's Chevy Tahoe and my daughters GMC Suv (I just put another set of Goodyears on my truck)...we actually like the Generals a lot. My wife always runs Michelin tires (it is a low profile tire so it is a different animal) on her cars - her current vehicle is a high top conversion, AWD GMC van. I have to say for overall rating I prefer the Michelin tire - all of the different ones we've ran over the past 40 years or so have proved to be a good value. I will replace my daughter's tires with the Michelin tires when it is time. A close friend of mine owns a fairly large Tire Shop...he loves the Micheline tires, but when I wanted to try the Generals on my sons vehicle - he said he has had no issues with the tire (though he prefers the Michelins). I do not think you'll go wrong with either...good luck.

+1 on the Michelin defenders. I drive 50 miles a day round trip, mostly on highway. After 30k miles on my defenders they still look like no treadwear has occurred. Love the 600 tread ware rating. The only complaint is a bit louder after a few thousand miles but it’s a truck.
