I have searched this site several times and I am trying to get a clear picture on tires. I have 2019 OR. I am thinking of going with Michelin Defender LTX M/S (not LT) @ 38lbs.

    • I do not off road, gravel road, etc., but I occasionally tow a pretty light boat (dry wt is 2250 lbs) about a mile down the street.
    • I drive 45-55 to work, but do highway.
    • I want a quiet tire and light tire.
    • I live in Florida - hills at best, just rain and more rain
    • When I buy these I am also going to add 2.5" lift (Bilstein 5500 maybe) and goto a 17" rim.
    Do these tires make sense?

Thank you so much - Keith

It’s a highway tire. So it should be what you are looking for.

That's an excellent choice for what you are doing. THey are quiet and a really good rain tire. They should last 50K or so. I am running those now. They suck off road though lol.

Thank you all for your feedback. If there was somewhere nearby to off-road then I would be doing it and getting something else for sure.

These Defenders on my wife’s 16 Explorer have 42,000 and lots to go. Great in the snow and rain. Better than my Nitto’s for sure. lol

If you have an OR you will need to rock an R16 (16inch rim) tire.

265/75R16 in the SL rated tire is going to be one notch bigger diameter than stock but hardly weigh any more. This is the exact tire i run on my 2nd gen with a 2in lift and it looks great.

You WILL NOT, find a better, longer lasting, best grip in the dry, best grip in the rain, best grip on icy/light snow covered road all season tire than this. HANDS DOWN.
