Looking at these tires for my stock TRD Sport 2020 4wd. Hardly ever venture off road. I'm looking for a quiet long lasting road tire that can perform somewhat decent in snow.

I have LTX Defenders on my Sport and very happy with them. I am all on pavement too but get around well in snow. Bought mine at Costco. Looks like Costco has a Michelin sale through 9/22/2024.

    Yeah.
The Defender is not severe snow rated but is a great tire. Once you get into severe snow rated tires, you will likely have more noise and they will possibly not last as long. Between the 2, if you rarely go offroad, I think the Defender is the better choice. That's what I will be putting on my wife's 4Runner soon.

I think the Defender M/S2 is what you're looking for out of those 2 tires. Its a highway tire with lots of siping. Plus its relatively new where I believe the a/t 2 is close to 15 years old at this point, but maybe its had a referesh. Either way, the Defender MS2 is probably the quieter tire.

I might also consider the Continental TerrainContact HT and Yokohama G015 as they're the similar in performance

Another vote for Defender LTX M/S. Fantastic tire on my sport and wife's Highlander. Northern Indiana / Southern Michigan.

Still had to throw weight in the back though

One more vote for Defender LTX M/S. They handle pretty well in winter and light off-road. I run fire roads and loose ruble hills cutting firewood and they work well. Plus I drive cross country on the interstate at least once a year.

I had defenders on an awd work van, and it was unstoppable in the snow. It’s the only tire I will buy.

Defender owner, second set. Tremendous all around tire...super in the rain, extremely quiet.

Even though it's not rated, I'm pretty sure it could beat most 3PMSF tires on snowy pavement. It's better than you might expect off road too (although it won't do well in deep snow or mud).

Aside from buying mud tires for one truck a few years back, defenders are the only tires I’ve bought in decades.
