    Hey guys

Seems I have gained a rattling noise from my truck, at first it only did it on a cold start without warming it up, after I drove around for a bit it would go away. Now it seems to be constant. It didn't really start happening until the beginning of this winter. I am not sure if it is the cold weather since it did not make this noise last winter. Also I checked all my heat shields and any connections that may be loose and all is good. Anyone else have this problem?

Metallic rattling noise when accelerating sounds like pinging/predetonation to me...does it sound like marbles rattling around inside a tin can? Only when accelerating and especially if you're putting a heavy load on the engine?

I assume you aren't supercharged so this definitely wouldn't be normal if it is what you're experiencing...when's the last time you did your spark plugs?

Pinging can still happen to N/A motors though, just a lot less likely. But older high mileage vehicles can have it happen when they are past due for a tune up. Especially if the spark plugs are old and tired/fouled, spark knock sounds just like pinging when you accelerate. Hard to tell though just going by the description of the sound, would need to hear it on a video or something to know better

That exactly the sound mine made. Does it do it when you start the truck also?

Yea I understand, It would be hard to capture in a video since my exhaust would be to loud. I will probably try to pull my plugs to see how they are. Still something about just makes me feel like something is loose.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
If you can make it happen while parked, kick the tailpipe. My 05 did it. Never figured it out.

Might be engine ping. It's common with our trucks and there's a TSB and some ECU flash that dealerships can do. Does it happen under load and especially when hot out? If not, probably something else...

It's not the normal ping, more of a sound that is not usually there lol. Only under load, not really sure about the temp, it is cold right now but it didn't do this last winter.

Mine makes a buzzy vibration sound from like 12-14k rpms. But I'm positive it's coming from inside the truck.

Well one way to potentially eliminate (or diagnose) whether or not it's engine ping would be to run a higher octane fuel at your next fill-up. If the sound goes away, it's almost certainly engine ping...if it's still there then something else.
