I plan to get my front brakes and rotors replaced soon, and I'm looking for a website that provides the same data in software that auto mechanics use to estimate the amount of time it takes to perform the work. There are lots of on-line auto repair estimators, but they include the parts and usually give a wide range for pricing which isn't particularly helpful. I typically purchase all of the parts myself. The cost per hour at a shop in my area approaches $100, so I just need to know how much time it should take.

Anyone know where I can find auto mechanic labor time estimates online?

    Thanks.

have you thought of doing it yourself? Front brakes and rotors are pretty easy to do. Took me about 2 hours and that's with minimal tools

Pretty straightforward work man. There's lots of resources out there. Plus you save a bunch money and you get to learn a new skill

At my shop a brake job that consists of replacing pads and rotors calls for 1 hour. Replacing pads and cutting rotors calls for 1.4 hours.

Yeah, when I was younger, I would probably replace the brakes and rotors myself, but now I've gotten to a point in my life where I'd rather pay a pro to do it.

Most shops go by Mitchell. This is the Bible of most auto repair shops including mine. Gotta pay for it though.

This. I can do the brakes with 2 screwdriver and a 17mm wrench
