So I am due for a new set of tires and have been thinking to get some new wheels while I am at it.

I am looking at getting a set of either MB 72 wheels or MB TKO wheels. The black version. Does anybody have pictures of either of these wheels on their 1st gen. Tacoma? I have seen a few of the TKO's on the 2nd gen but none on 1st gens.

What offset/backspacing do I need for my 2001 Tacoma TRD?
Also, would anybody recommend either the 72's or the TKO's? Any bad experiences with MB wheels?

I have 2005-newer TRD alloy wheels that I bought but not sure i want to use those. I am considering black powder coating them if I dont get new wheels.

    Any info is helpful,

    Thanks in advance!

What size tires do you want to run, on how much lift?

I've got an OME lift (its about a 1.5-2" lift) on it and I am running 265/75/16 BFG A/T KO's right now.

I will probably go with the same tire. I wanted to go 285 but I think I need a 3" lift for that and I can see that the 265's rubbed frame when new(I've only had the truck for 10 months). I assume 285's will rub bad at full turn and therefore I will probably just stick with 265's.

Um, I may be reading the specs of those "MB" wheels wrong but...they only make a 6 lug in 17's and 20's. All others are 5 lugs.

You'll want 3.5"-4.5" backspacing to run the 265s, and something closer to 3.4" to run the 285s someday.

This s correct. OP, you need wheels with 6x139.7 lug pattern

You can 4.5 bs for 285's no problem. 3.4 is also a lot on bs for a 1st gen especially since the MB 72's are 8.5" wide.

OP, I love the MB 72's and wish I had gotten some. They should bolt up just fine and do come in 16x8.5 6x5.5. I'd go with those and it will give you a nice agressive stance.

I'll let someone with a first gen chime in, but from my years of reading these posts when they come up, I've seen that 4.5" bs it too little for 285s on 1st gens. It's the same as the stock backspacing.

The 8.5" width will pull the tire out .75" more than the stock 7" wheels though. Still, if he he's rubbing the frame with the 265s I think the 285s will rub with a 4.5" bs wheel.

Stock backspacing is 4.625 on 1st gens. 4.5 is close, but it definitely fits. I agree something around 4 or so would be better, but you can run it with 4.5 no problem. The 8.5" might cause some slight problems, but I don't think it will be bad.

I used to have the tundy sport rims and I think those had 4.5"BS. Granted they were 17" but I did have to run 1.25" spacers for the 285's to clear the frame.

Thanks for your input on the backspacing. I will see what backspacing is available with these wheels.

Anybody with a 1st gen. Running these wheels? Please, feel free to post pictures!

I am also considering the KMC enduro wheels, so pictures of those would be helpful. Any others recommendations?

    Thanks,
    TacoTuck.

Ok, now I'm looking at getting a set of black KMC enduro wheels 16x8" and they come with 4.5" of backspacing.

The dinner table question that arose tonight was:

Since the stock tacoma wheels have I think 4.650" of BS and the wheels are 7" wide--- the new wheels that are 8" wide will stick approx. 1" further out(with 4.5" BS)???

Any help? I don't want my tires sticking way out.

Going with 265/75/16 BFG's (maybe duratrac) tires if that affects anything.

They will stick out .6" or so further than stock because of the new rims. Maybe a little more since you're getting a wider tire than stock. You should be fine especially if you have any type of flare.

You are correct. I went into the tire store tonight and the manager that I was talking with said that the tires and wheels will stick out about 1/2 inch more than they are now.

Has anybody bought Enduros lately? Which cap do they come with? To me they look different and look to be different in size too.

    This cap? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359710803.956869.jpg

    Or this cap? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359710939.389779.jpg

I think I would rather the first cap and I might modify it and shorten it but I'm not sure which it comes with, and they have to be ordered so I can't see them in person first. So any help is welcome!

    Thanks .

I bought a new Enduro last year for my spare and the cap that comes with the wheel is the pictured in the top photo...the big ugly plastic POS that looks like a beer can. My caps are still brand new sitting in my garage...I've debated looking for others put I've kept them off all togther

I've been looking at those wheels also, they look sharp. For those interested they also come in 15".

I have changed wheel choice again and decided to got with KMC enduros. I just got to get rid of my current tires and wheels first as well as an extra set of wheels I have.
