Has anyone out there put 17" rims that are 8" wide on their TRD Sport. Mine sits up slightly higher with what I'm guessing is a 1 1/2 to 2" puck above the coils. I currently have 285/75 16s on it and would like to move up to some 17" FN Fx pros if I can. Any experience with say 275/70 17s? 285/75 17s? Thanks for any advice.

I messed up I meant 17" thanks for noting that. I guess I'm trying to figure out what the biggest I can get with that 17" rim. It's an 8" wide rim. I want as much tire on the road as possible. Not necessarily the tallest

I'm running 285/65R18s on Fuel wheels. In order to run them, you will need level lift (2-3 inch) and possibly a cab mount chop. It is the width that caused me to get a cab mount chop.

Wheel spacers wouldn't fix the problem or was it the radius from center to cab that was the issue?

I run Cooper ST Maxx's 285-75-17 on the 17X7 TRD wheels. Never had an issue.

max tire size no lift 17 inches will be 265/70R17
max tire size no lift 18 inches will be 265/60R18

These numbers are guaranteed fit, no rub. You can experiment with larger sizes, but the actual tire will be the determining factor.

For the 2nd Gen, which you have, it will be a little more difficult then @svermilyea in his 3rd gen. I have a 2013 sport with 17" rims. I started with 265/70R17's at first without any issue. Keep in mind that I was also running the oem sport rims with a +30mm offset. I moved up to 285/70R17's and I had to do a cab mount chop and added 1.25 spidertrax wheel spacers to clear my JBA UCA's. I just switched over to a new wheel with a -12 mm offset and took the spidertrax off and I am good now. If you have at least a 2 inch lift, you would need a cab mount chop to fit 285's but you should be able to clear 275's without a problem as long as you wel lifted a little and did a small amount of trimming.
