I understood it as he got some supplies delivered and had the delivery company/guy call in a few tow claims instead of paying him therefore still paying Windor Towing and saving the customer some money thus leaving the bill for AAA. :notsure:
again, not defending him, it’s still stealing in my book

Sounds like he was helping people not have to pay large towing and recovery bills, for the most part, if the charges are true. Seems it was only AAA who was the 'victim' of the alleged crimes, not any individuals or small businesses.
I hold my condemnation of him for now.
Interested to see how this develops.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
I find it "interesting" that during an investigation, an IFD agent is discussing conversations and circumstances of an ongoing case. How does that work?

    That's just how AAA works.

The member gets X number of XX max mileage tows per year. If the member wants to blow all their tows in one shot daisy-chaining them together, that's their prerogative.

I've done the same thing when stranded in BFE Wyoming with a blown radiator.

Isn't a YouTube channel supposed to be specific content? lol. It's in the business model to be repetitive and creators have secondary channels to show all the "other than normal" content.

Paul's channel is the same thing! lol.

Yes, and eventually I will tire of that content and move to something else, my choice, for now.

I wouldn't consider him fraudulently charging the insurance company for services not rendered as "helping people". He was getting paid by AAA. That's not "helping" others...that's called stealing from a business even if it's an insurance company. If he was truly "helping", then he would have deeply discounted his services or maybe handled the towing for free for the person(s). If I steal gas so you don't have to pay for it, it's still theft.

With his on road towing company, Winder Towing, I was charged $375 to go 46 miles. The driver was super friendly and tried to make light of a shitty situation. He’s not cheap.

If he's bringing in that kind of income why would he risk it for $15k. Not a smart move. I wonder if the Morvair and a yellow recovery rope would be enough to recover Matt over the jail wall.

I understand that. We have AAA for my wife and daughter and have had to use it a couple times before and once for a stupid mistake I made working on my truck :frusty: What I’m saying is that you can’t call in a few fake tows to AAA to pay someone for some supplies that were delivered. That would be lying and stealing
I can’t call AAA to have them tow/deliver a pallet of rocks over to me:notsure:

Apparently, it was the other way around. Matt hauled the material to the guy three times, but the haul jobs were claimed as a "tow". Some more discussion on TW over here (merge threads?)

Hoo boy, yeah that's not a great look.

Sucks because I just found their channel and really enjoy the content, so hopefully they can clean up their act and keep the good times rolling.

Makes me wonder who/how they billed Ed for his Jimmy or whatever that is now.

Maybe YouTube star Ronny Dahl can give us a breakdown? "Apparently, someone very popular in the 4x4 community doesn't know the difference between a tow and a haul. Mate, this can get you in serious trouble!"

When I was a socal auto club tow truck driver in the late 80's early 90's we gave flat rate quotes for OPAR tows or use the auto club card for the free 7 miles then billed the customer from that point . Also we were instructed on T8 calls ( accidents)to not accept membership cards and only accept cash or card or bill the body shop for the tow

We had set fees for up to a 100 mile radius and anything over that distance was flat rate per mile . Other fees were winching anything under 20ft of cable was covered under membership and any cable over 20ft was billed to the customer

Aside from the AAA stuff, recently discovered that channel and didn't leave it for about 3 hours. Idk how those vids are so interesting to watch.
