What tint does Toyota use? Looking to just match the factory rear tint. My last vehicle I had the %'s matched but you could tell a difference when in the vehicle and looking out.

These windows tinted from the factory are really hard to "match" perfectly from the inside. Mine are tinted to 25% and from the outside of the truck it looks like a solid match. But from the inside looking out, the aftermarket tint seems a bit darker than the factory tint (which, based on specs is actually darker than my front windows.)

A reputable window guy will get you close. Mine said he couldn't perfectly match it...he could go slightly lighter or slightly darker. So, of course I went darker. Undetectable difference...unless you scrutinize, or tint windows for a living.

If you are referring to the front doors, 20% film over factory tint, which is usually around 70-80%, will match the back pretty closely. We were using 15% to match back windows but we had a lot of complaints that it was darker than the rear.

Why would anyone complain that it is darker than the rears? The darker the better (as long as Johnny Law doesn't get involved)

You'd be surprised! lol Picky people would complain, looking from the inside, saying it was darker

I had mine measured. They said the rear windows were coming in at about 22% so my options for front window tints were either 20% or 25%. I went 20% up front so from the outside they match really well but you can notice the slight difference when sitting on the inside looking out.

18%-20% in the front windows will match the back windows from the outside looking in. You will see a difference however from in the inside looking out.

What I did was Tint the back windows at 70%. Match is pretty on point from both the inside looking out and outside looking in.

Plus depending on the tint you use, tinting the back will add UV protection since the factory tint is only to darken the windows for privacy.

I was considering doing 35% all around. Based on what you guys are saying I only need to do 35% on the front and it will be lighter than the back windows but offer more privacy. Is that correct?

^ correct. You will have darker front windows compared to stock and they will be lighter than the rear windows.

I’m running 27% up front and 70% rear. Matches perfect.

IMO it looks ridiculous when the front is darker than the back. I went with 30% in the front which makes it very slightly lighter than the rear.

Also I'm not trying to get pulled over for it.

Privacy glass. 20% window tint will come close but not a perfect match. Also the "Privacy glass" has very little UV value.

I opted for 5% front windows and 20% over the rear to come out to 5% all around. Also did the 5% sun strip on the top of the windshield. Perfect!!

I have always done limo tint on all my cars. This time I was just going to get the front two windows matched to save a few bucks but my tint guy convinced me that I wouldn’t think it was dark enough knowing how I have always had limo tint. I’m happy with it.

But to answer op’s Question, I was told 20% matches up as good as possible with the rears.

I was told the front windows were roughly 75% and that the tint wasn't a film, rather treatment/additive to glass when it was made.
Source: the lifelong window tinter who did my windows

I did 20% on the front 2 windows, and I now cannot tell a difference.
Note: I can tell a difference only when inside the truck.

Not to hijack the thread but can anyone point me to any photos of adding 30-35% all around to factory tint?

Exactly what the guy said when I asked if he could match. Slightly lighter or darker. From the outside it looks the same

I just had my front windows tinted and told them to match the rear windows. It looked close but know I notice that the front window tint has a slight gold/brown appearance when compared to the rear windows. I only notice this from inside the vehicle.

Hey buddy, I have the same truck same color. Was going to do my windows and agree with you as far as front being slightly lighter than the rear. Any chance you have a picture of your tint?
