The VW wasn’t supposed to be a project car. It was supposed to be a don’t think about it around town cruiser (i.e., an appliance like a toaster). The Taos is a sharp contrast to the Tacoma. Direct injection, variable geometry turbo charged, duel clutch 7 gear transmission. No torque converter, who knew. Wheel bolts, no lug nuts, who knew. Triple square drive fasteners?

There was a plurality of green features that became annoying and had to go. The engine turning off at stops has been “fixed”. The transmission acceleration delay “mostly fixed”, there is a software switch accessible via Carista. The neighbor friendly horn has been replaced by something worthy of the descendents of the third reich.

I’m doing good, keeping busy. Because of the “flood” I’m stripping the interior to dry it out. Seems like overkill but running the AC didn’t do it. Turning lemons into lemonade. Adding a subwoofer, sound insulation, front and rear dash camera. Rants will continue as necessary.

 

I guess this is how they mount but I can’t wrap my head around how to use them. Apparently my cousin got them from a forum member who used to make them. It was a while ago because he had them on his 2011 that he sold a few years ago.

Well, do you have anything you want to mount in your bed? Can always fab up a bracket…

Maybe you can find the posts about them on here in the archives?

That would be great! Just ordered a set of wheels, they are being shipped now… then gotta get some funds together for tires. Thinking 265/70-18’s. Not sure how’ll they will fit, so figure a CMC will def help. Going to be a minute though…
