Was shopping around online and looking at new Taco’s and came across the most extreme madness to date on the new RAV4 Prime. I’m curious to hear from someone who actually paid this much for one…$81k for prime no thanks.

    Anyone who’ll pay $80K for a Rav4 deserves to pay $80K for a Rav4. /

Do they actually have this in stock? Dealers around here are quoting 2-3 year wait for one of these.

That is off the wall insane!! At some point in time I would send this to the States attorney generals office and inquire about Price Gouging. That is due to how this was created by a pandemic.

I saw a new 5th gen 4Runner listed above $110,000. I hope it was modified buy the dealer, I think it was a TRD OR. Even if it was modified that price is insane.

    Edit
For the price of that RAV4 you could over pay for both a new Tacoma, and a new Corolla.

My dad is truck shopping. My sister sent him a link for a Ford F-250 for 107k. Stupid. Went with to the dealership to test drive an older f 250. I stood next to a ranger tremor in the show room. Those trucks are tall

Wow that is nuts. A couple years ago when the body style changed, my buddy bought his mom a new RAV4 for low to mid 20s when they were blowing out last years inventory.

    Its not just cars.

    Its everything.

    Today I purchased 2-8' long 9/16" x 3 1/2" maple base boards......paid darn near $50. :eek::eek:

As a family, we've decided to table all purchases except food, fuel (heat), electric, water, mortgage. We are parking our vehicles that get less than 20 mpg. So, the '06 Tacoma and '02 TrailBlazer are parked. Only the '19 Honda CR-V (tupperware car) will have road time, unless something heavy or long needs hauling.

Probably delay putting the CX500C back on the road too. This really hurts. I was hoping to ride the motorcycle Spring 2022. :(

This current economic situation is out of hand. As consumers, if we quit spending, the supply will return and the demand will drop forcing prices back to where they should be.

If you think it's stupid to pay or ask $80+k for a Rav4 that you can drive away and make money with, what would you guys think about someone who would pay$62k for bit coin??
At least I can get my hands on a the Rav4 and "touch & feel" it, but vapor ware?

It's a crazy world guys, crazy...going back to my cave now...

It's simple supply and demand. People are willing to pay those prices, seriously. Maybe nobody here but there are real people who will gladly shell out those dollars.
In my world OEMs are willing to pay anything to get the components they need to finish machines. We simply can't make them fast enough to keep up with demand and that is what is happening here.

If prices go too high though, demand will slow but apparently $80K for a RAV4 is not too high.

You are correct but we are nowhere near people ready to quit spending, which will ease demand and let supply catch up.

The lumber goes into our major capitol investment.....the house.

    Legos are toys......

Your money, your spend, your choice.

We decided to not buy Xmas tree and skip gifts. Just have a family meal and small gathering. Tday will follow the same path.

The markup is insane but the base price is also 5000 more than I paid for a new TRD Pro 1.5 years ago. Must be one hell of a Rav
