I have a 96 Tacoma 2.7l 3rz 5spd 4x4 and one day the truck shut off and threw a code saying manufacture control. I started the truck right after and cleared the code. Nowadays if I leave the obd2 plugged in it works but I can’t run all my lights or music at the same time otherwise my volts drop and truck shuts off throwing the same code (manufacture control). If I unplug the obd2 and go to start the truck it starts and runs for about 2min. Then shuts off throwing the code. I must leave the obd2 plugged in, in order to drive the thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
Manufacturer control usually means your scan tool can’t properly read that code.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
In any case Low system Voltage causing the ECM to go into protection mode to keep it alive.

I am sure this has a fancy term that I forgot!!

What is the code number you are getting?
I suspect you may have a bad ground since you say it runs with the scanner connected because the DLC has 2 grounds (pins 4 and 5) and most scanners short them together when they are plugged in so my fist step would be checking pins 4 (white/black) and 5 (brown) on the DLC for ground

Code # p1300 is what it’s throwing. Was very easy to find the code all I had to do was unplug the obd2 scanner, start the truck and let it run for about 2min. Till it shuts off throwing the code.

P1300 is for the igniter circuit, check the ground near the battery it grounds the igniter, ECM, and Data Link Connector I bet you will find your issue there.
