I have a 2012 tacoma with the stock radio and door speakers, i replaced the tweeters with the high end kicker tweeters and the sound isn’t any louder. Will replacing the head unit make it louder since i have the kicker tweeters? or will i need new door speakers also?

Volume comes from power. New speakers won’t do much of anything.
Your stock radio puts out less than 10 watts (usually closer to 5) to the front speakers, and even less to the rear.
A good brand aftermarket radio (none of that boss/dual/powerakoustic crap) will bump you up to 15-20w into all 4 doors. While not a large amount of power, it’s still more than double what you currently have

I would personally start with a four channel amp. You can get some nice ones that will outperform any head unit for a heckuva lot cheaper.

I would start by adding soundproofing. That way the music doesn't have to compete with road noise.

I replaced my door speakers with kicker cs. I wouldn’t say they play louder but the sound quality is a night and day difference compared to the factory crap. I also sound deadened the doors.

And what are you going to drive the amp with? The stock hu...:puke:

Replace the head unit. That'll be the biggest bang for your buck.

A five dollar radio driving five thousand dollar speakers still sounds like a five dollar radio.

OP, you will be amazed at what a new head unit will do for the sound.
