Hello everyone I’ve been trying to look online and can’t seem to find any links about this. If anyone has done this and could tell me how your experience was.Can I make a 2007 Tacoma long bed to a short bed without Messing with the chassis? Can I just find a short bed and bolt it in without any main problems?

Thank you. So would you have to cut down the bed and make it to a short bed?

this is getting popular with some of the classic pickups. Shortbeds are in short supply and more desirable than longs

If you do this don't cut the frame in a straight line. You need to cut it with several radius to minimize the stress loading. Lookup Chevy C10 from 1968 to 1972. Lots of guys cutting down those frames. You will see the shape that works best. A z shape can work too but several 1/4 circles works best.

Uhh dude you’re better off selling that long bed and buying a short bed. You’re going to ruin your resale value and likely mess up the truck. Also the long beds fetch a premium and are rarer.

But why would you want to do that in the first place? You want to decrease the actual utility you’re getting out of your truck? It doesn’t make sense

Why in the name of the Flying Spaghetti Monster would you ruin a perfectly good, and far superior, long bed and turn it into an utterly useless and disgusting short bed?

The long beds look way better and have more room. I just don’t get what you’re thinking

LOL at the longbed fanboyz and people worried about resale. Let him do what he wants with his truck.

Maybe he has a regular cab or acces cab and a short bed isn't an option?

Also, in terms of utility, I can haul anything in my short bed that any of the long beds can. Sleeping in it sucks though.

Dont switch it to a short bed. BOB the back off between the rear tires and the bumper. It will be about the same size as a short bed, gives you better departure angles and you only have to remove the excess frame. Its not a 2nd gen but heres a 3rd gen bobbed right!

I wouldn't make the modifications. If you want a short bed it is much more economical in the long run to just sell/buy or trade for what you want.

The long bed DC Tacomas don't make sense to me. The biggest advantage of buying a Tacoma over a 1/2 ton is the smaller size. They are smaller, shorter, easier to maneuver and drive off road. The biggest disadvantage Tacoma has over 1/2 tons is the smaller size. You get a smaller more cramped, less comfortable cab, less payload and towing capacity. Not enough difference in fuel mileage anymore for that to be a factor.

If you're going to buy a long bed DC Tacoma then just buy a 1/2 ton crew cab. The wheelbase is practically the same and you lose all of the advantages of having a smaller truck. But still have all of the disadvantages.
