i have a 08 Tacoma DC 4x4 with 6in procomp lift, 35in wheels and it rides like s***. I have been doing a lot of reading on what other mates have posted but none are current with todays newer designed options such as heim uca's.

I would love to have a better performing truck with what i have now and want to make my ride more offroad capable....leaning more to a fuctional mid travel rig. Ie...uca, coil over w/ remote res, extended/non travel.....

I would love the hear from anyone who has made improvements to the same setup that i currently have would be greatly appreciated. Please specific on what you did.

No experience with using or removing DBs, but you have laid the frame work above: remove it and install a proper MT setup.

I have a 6'' procomp on my truck as well. It actually rides great compared to anything else I have ever driven that was lifted 6'', no complaints at all. I did not install this kit and would have opted for a mid or long travel setup instead if it was my choice. The truck came with it installed.

There has been some people who have removed them with good results. Going to take a competent fabricator / welder to do so, and probably at least 6 hours of labor just to do the removal and install of drop bracket / crossmember if your paying them.

I have upgraded my pro-comp with Icon coil overs in the front and fox shocks in the rear (neither have remote res), which greatly enhanced the ride, but the biggest for me was the upgrade to Light Racing upper control arms.... Huge difference in the way it handled (especially at highway speeds) imo.

Im looking at TC heim uca to start, while repairing swaybar link threads on the control arm; i noticed that my upper ball joint was broke during re assembly. Im wondering if thats the loud pop sound i hear when leave my driveway.

Was thinking the same thing. Need to cycle that leaf pack and possibly space that timbren.

    Yet another "happy" DB story.

But god forbid anybody says anything negative BD lifts on this forum:rolleyes:

Anyway, get good quality coilovers for the front, new leaf packs with good quality shocks for the rear. basically, redo most of the lift $$$$$$.

The only other option is to remove the DB and bring the truck back to factory specs... - which is neither cheap or easy.

Hey Kinjo, I'm new to this place. Found a lot of good info here and decided to join. I have a very similar build to yours. How do you like those shocks so far? And what did you run before? And how do they feel in comparison? Thanks!

I use to run blocks with add a leaf from procomp. Now with 6in alcan leaf and king shock at the rear, my truck rides better. Cost was $1800 including timbren shackle flip. IMG_0387.jpg
I'm not happy with the front as its still a work in progress with king shocks. Installed king 25001-619 with remote res and additional 5 turn of preload that rasied ride height 1in from factoy setting, but rides rough.

You really don't need 700# springs. Unless you are planing on a plate bumper, winch and armor. I was running 700s with steel bumper, full steel skids, winch, and sliders, and it rode fine. Without that weight, it's gonna be really rough hitting those speed bumps at the mall...

    From the King GB thread...
And if you were rubbing on the body mount at ride height, then cranked the coilovers 3" higher, you will still rub when you are turning and the suspension cycles. Like turning into a steep driveway. You should also check to see how much down travel you have. If your coilovers are fully extended at ride height from you adding 3 more inches of lift, it will ride terrible.

Measure center of the hub to the fender at ride height, jack up the truck enough to get the tires off the ground, then measure again.

What have you done to your truck lately
If you rubbing on your cab mount, maybe you should do the cab mount chop and start pounding on your fender walls

Define "rides like shit" is it too bumpy or lumpy? Does it feel flighty on the road?

bumpy ride as a result of gaining additional ride height from one inch of extra preload on 700lb springs.
After contacting king, the springs i ordered normally have 18" springs installed for my application. Why 14" springs were mounted on the ones i ordered is an issue Im waiting for reply from king.
As for the rubbing issue at cab mount while making turns, it was advised from total chaos to perform trimming when i installed heim uca. To be performed at a later date to correct the problem if it still exisits after the shock correction.
