They told us this morning that they were in touch with Toyota because they couldn’t find the problem, and they said that they had to get another truck in to double check the parts with ours.

Pisser... Has the truck sat unused for a while? Or daily driver? I only ask because of mice action. They love the wires in our trucks. Maybe they chewed on something and it is tucked way up in somewhere under a cover or under the dash. This definitely sounds like a short.

Your post is very hard to follow, but you said "and for $800 the took out part of the alarm hot wired the front windows to work even with the ignition turned off and the doors opened"
This sounds like an electrical mod to operate the windows with the truck off and maybe an alarm added. If so, I'd start here, any slight change to the electrical system can cause issues. Good luck

The alarm was installed at the dealership before we purchased the truck, we got it 2days after it left the production line in Mexico and delivered to the dealership. And I’m not sure how the FOB is wired to the door locks and push button start, the problems all started with the doors not locking/unlocking with the FOB but truck still started.

I’m not a mechanic, but my wife’s Volvo does all kind of crazy electrical stuff when the battery is about to go. Similar to what is happening to you.

    Always Q1

    OP response

    However OP also says

Which, while dealer installed (or more likely sublet) absolutely IS an electrical mod. Curious if they unhooked that mess to see what happens. I've removed enough faulty alarms to make me never want one.

I too was driving way before the Dick Tracy stuff came to be, and curious as well.

But sometimes some around me don't think I've 'grown up'. :anonymous:

I prefer to think of it as a fine line to balance between being responsible and enjoying life.

    It's important to do both.

Unfortunately too many more folks seem to be falling on the 'enjoying life' via entitlement side of things lately.

Yes the dealership unhooked it and left it on the seat the first time they had it and put it back in this time

After re-reading this again. I think this aftermarket alarm has screwed the pooch here. Every wire that has been tapped by this systems octopus of wires needs a continuity check from one plug to the other end plug. Easiest way is going to be to remove many lower dash panels to see the harness in the dash. Follow one wire from the alarm at a time. Then check that truck harness wire from plug to plug. You will find it...or someone will...

Oh and no butt plugs...you don't really want to go back.

You could try removing fuses from the fuse box to different systems (one at a time) and see if the problem goes away. It’s likely you’ll trigger other faults, but as long as you don’t start it and/or drive away you’re not really putting anything at risk.

The dealership was hell bent on it being the rear view mirror at first but now they just want more money to try and see if they can fix it, hell they couldn’t fix it in 10 days to start with. I’m thinking it has to do with the receivers for the FOB controlling the door locks and perimeter location. Does anybody else’s steering wheel not lock at all after shutting truck off and turning the steering wheel?

None yet can’t afford to take back to dealership, and I don’t want to mess with it because it still runs and drives. We can live with it for now
