My 2016 is showing "maintenance required soon" on the center display on start-up. Is there a way to find out what maintenance is required?

It is a simple reminder. What mileage are you at and when was the last time you changed the oil?

Why would you drive a vehicle that requires maintenance?

The dealership did an oil change within 2,000 miles. My guess they did not reset. Less than 27,000 miles since I bought it new.

Mine pops up every 5,000 miles. Reset is easy. With the truck off, hold the odometer reset and then hit the start button and watch the odometer dots count down.

There's a maintenance tracker in the apps on the screen. If you take the time to use it, it's very handy but you need to enter the mileage when maint is done so that it can pop up and remind you.

Most times, at least my experience, the dealer will not reset the light unless it’s on.

If you bought it from the dealer, ask them for a copy of the maintenance records. They should be tracked. At 9 years, some stuff should have been done. You may have access to carfax that can track services, if they were entered.

Check out this thread for an easy to read maintenance map- https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-maintenance-maps-get-300k-miles.789809/

OP, go to www.toyota.com/owners if you have an account sign in if you don’t create one and you can see all the service records since new completed by the dealership.

My experience with the dealer is also light on: reset. Light not on: no reset. When I get it changed, I reset the #2 trip meter back to zero to track the total ongoing mileage on the oil.

500 miles before it's due, the yellow "Maint Requird" light will flash on the dash at start up, and it will be off. When it's due, it will stay on.

I did that once for this exact issue. it list a few things but the last one is "low oil pressure"
scared the you know what out of me because the next day i was doing a long drive.
Stupid me i panicked and took it to a local mechanic, he did the usual, check the oil and fluids then re set it.
Scare tacit to get you to take it to the dealer!

I'm assuming that the Maintenace required soon is only for oil. As a one owner truck not much other than 5 oil changes, air filters and one tire rotation have been done. At less than 27,000 miles since June of 2016 the tires are starting to crack between the tread. I might put some new tires on this summer. Thanks for everyone's input.

Shelf live for tires are about 6-7 years. Get them changed no matter what.

Whenever I change oil, I write the milage on some painters tape and stick it on the inside of the sun viser.
    I also reset the reminder.
    Usually rotate tires then also.
