Just fishing in case there is any knowledge on this before I go to a dealer. My 2013 has the service light on that is just a dummy 5,000 mile (or 3,000) mile light. I "know" how to reset it (hold ODO or trip A while turning key from lock to on etc). My problem is it will not reset.

My googling is stopped because there are thousands of results related to how to reset it, not what might cause it not to reset!

Anyway, I am stumped. I am also OCD and like all my dash lights to be out!

Is it doing the ------ countdown?

You have to hold it until it stops blinking and the odometer reads all 0s.

I have tried the normal thing. I don't get a countdown. Nothing happens.

I will give it a try. That is logical and worked on a similar issue a long time ago on another car.

Turn ign on and set odometer to TRIP A.
    Press and hold reset button.
While holding reset, turn ign off then back on.
Continue to hold reset while odo does - - - - - countdown.
Once countdown is complete, it will go to 000000 then to total mileage. You can release the reset at that point.
Edit: trip A not total, my Googlefu failed me today.

I think it's trip A on mine, it seems like it changed at some point but idk what the year break is.

OP.....open the Owner's Manual for your truck. Verify you are executing the reset procedure correctly.

I suspect you have something in the procedure not quite right.

I was hopeful, but alas no go.

For those suggesting trip etc...I "know" how to do it...the point is that it is not working. It never resets, never gives the countdown etc...just nothing.

Just did mine a few minutes ago after another 5K oil change. I forgot the exact procedure and didn't bother to look it up. With the ignition key off, I pressed the odometer button, then turned the key on while holding the button down. It lit up and did the - - - - - countdown, then flashed to all zeros. I never selected trip A or trip B.

OP, sorry you're having trouble with it and I hope you can get something to work. Black tape over the offending maintenance reminder is so tacky. Let us know if you get it fixed.

Well, I have done the procedure on ODO/A/B and it remains, never the --------, never the zeros. I do have to take the dash out when it warms up to address a few other issues, and will remove the bulb at that point! I do want to get it working normally though as I am OCD about stuff like that.

What is the exact procedure per your owners manual?

I don't have the manual for the truck, so I have had to use the common procedure of pressing and holding the ODO button while putting the key from off/lock to on.

Just trying to help... Is the engine RUNNING when you switch to A? When I reset mine I don't think it is but that's what is listed above. Good luck.
