For those of you who keep meticulous records for your vehicles, what are people using for log notebooks, or computer software etc? Just curious of what other OCD folks are up to :). I am also in complete boredom anxiety waiting for my new truck to get to the dealer (currently 3 weeks later than expected). And so I am overthinking everything until I actually get the darn thing :bored: .

I used google drive spreadsheets in the past but am looking to go back to an old school binder. Also in my boredom I have been doin some custom (mostly lame) graphic design for inserts for record keeping.

Note pad on my phone. Also links to my outlook so I have it on my computer as well.

    That looks pretty sweet though

I use the Toyota website since it already tracks the dealer maintenance.

I kept a folder with all my receipts in a file drawer and entered most of the diy stuff I did on my previous car in to car fax. Car fax does a really good job also adding in things that dealers do and participating independent shops do.

I’m looking for something else now too. The reason, when I sold my Jeep I got a message a week later asking if I still owned it. Carfax tracks vehicle registration too and found a change. So when I went to my car fax account and went to say I didn’t own it and to remove it from my page they they delete all my personal entries and the diy maintenance history. So it’s no good for passing all information on to the next potential owner.

I might use the Toyota owner app and a journal book to have a written copy and keep my receipts like before.

When my sister in law and her family bought their house a few years back, the family that lived there for the last 35 years gave them a notebook they kept of every thing done to the house, with receipts etc. Even notes on how it impacted how the family used the house or changed utilities. It has actually been so helpful to them and I thought it was quite impressive. Now I wouldn’t say it would raise the value of a home per say, but having that type of documentation for your vehicle I think would help, in some part, in selling it,,,,if you ever plan to :).

Typically, I just do the work when it due and keep receipts. Mainly because we typically buy used cars. I would just have a spreadsheet for general stuff like filter part numbers or such.

For the Taco, I'm keeping receipts and logging all work here:
    https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/service-history

    Very easy to do.

A google sheet. I track everything that is relevant to me, and auto-sum how much I've sunk into the truck. I also keep notes about part numbers, warranties, and different service intervals. I also have a sheet for each vehicle, so everything is in one place, and can be accessed from any computer or my phone.

Everything I played with from third parties never really tracked the information in a way that was meaningful to me or in a way that I could see everything at a glance. Here's a snapshot from my 08 Tacoma. I spent $6,767 in maintenance and upgrades over the life of the truck.
