Just driving to OBX this Friday and the oil change light just comes on. No flashing, just came on while driving and will not reset. My oil change is less than 1k so I'm a little confused.

did you reset it yourself after the previous oil change? did you change the oil early and not even have the light come on (so now its on when it thinks you need to do a change)? I assume you know how to reset it yourself right?

the light is mileage driven. Lights solid at 5k miles since the last reset.

If your second sentence means that you had the oil changed 1k ago, someone did not reset the unit then.

Don't know how you are trying to reset it, but instructions on reset procedure are in the owners manual.

I did last oil change because I just got new tires and didn't want to pay the dealer $40 to rotate tires. Yes I have rest the light before with no issues. Turn key on, then off, hold trip button while turning key on until OD flashes and light goes off (resets). About 800 miles since oil change.

    • Turn the ignition switch to the “On” position, but do not start the engine
If your car has START push-button , press the “Start” without touching the brake pedal.
    • Press the odometer button until you see “TRIP A” on the little display
    [IMG]

    • Next, turn the ignition “off”
    • Press and hold the Trip Odometer Reset button, and turn the ignition switch to the “On” position
If your car has START push-button , press the “Start” twice without touching the brake pedal.
    • Continue to hold down the Trip Odometer Reset button until “000000” MILES appears on the display and the maintenance light turns off.

I thought it was supposed to be set on ODO? im fairly certain that's how ive been resetting mine (2011) for 100k miles. or maybe that was to turn off the seatbelt chime. (coulda swore it needed to be on ODO for both though)

Two things: 1) it's not the oil maintenance light and something else, 2) It is the oil maintenance light and you are doing something wrong.

    My guess is number 2

What is the light doing now? When you start the truck, does Maint light come on solid? If so, re-read your manual (seems I remember at some point between 2005 and 2015 Toyota changed the procedure) and try it again.

    Update:
Got the light reset and topped off blinker fluid. Seems I wasn't putting the odometer in "trip A". Only thing I can figure is it was an automatic indicator for 60k mile interval (spark plug change, among others). FYI if anyone has had or has trouble with 2012 models throwing the truck into limp mode (check engine light) due to secondary air valve failure, don't let the dealer tell you it's your problem. Found a place that fixed mine and saved about $2k or $350 on a bypass kit.

There's no "60k mile interval" indicator.

    Sold my Subaru
That was just a guess. Oil is still clean and at capacity so I don't have a clue why it just came on like that. It's always flashed at start up until the mileage makes it stay on.
Come to think of it, I did use Motorcraft blinker fluid. I did rotate the tires, to and from work.

For all those that do not know: In 2011 they changed the Combination Gauge from the orange gauge background to the white gauge background. Those with the orange gauge background use the Odometer to reset the Maint. Light. Those with the white gauge face use Trip A.

Some 2011 trucks ( orange face) use the Odometer, late model 2011 trucks ( white face) use Trip A
