Folks. I put the Magnusson on my Gen 3 2017 Tacoma and I'm one to profess ye DONT BOTHER for the following reasons: 1- 'Affordable'?? Bullshit! To do it right with programming, one must spend around $9K to have this installed 2- It actually CHOKES OUT the proper performance of the 3.5 engine until it finally decides to kick in at its desired temperature setting. One will notice a serious DECREASE of engine performance at lower temps and it takes this engine in the Winter time at least 10 minutes under load to heat up. The supercharger simply will NOT engage and the engine is choked given the removal of its stock intake. You might as well be driving the truck with a 2 litre engine. 3- Magnusson Co'. themselves are a bunch of arrogant, unhelpful, and rigid assholes who are sanctimonious in defending their rip-off product and frankly, I truly wish I never believed in them. I sent these entitled bastards a truckload of cash and it took them over 3 months to even send the blower. And finally 4- The performance increase, though as to spec, is actually quite under-whelming. One is only left with the feeling of.... 'mehhh' . I went through all this headache for..this?? Bros/Sis'...DONT waste your time or money with this over-rated garbage. And to Magnusson: You fuckers owe me a huge apology (and some cash as well)!

For not much more I could get myself a used Miata, clean it up, and get all the leadfoot jollies out of my system without jacking with the truck.

But... That's only like my opinion, man.

    this!
Unfortunately you learned the hard way. FI on modern vehicles is not for the faint of heart, time, $, etc,,, especially in this application, the juice simply isn't worth the squeeze.

Hopefully you did the work yourself and are capable of removing for resale, as I would think paying to have it stripped might not be worth it (especially since the install monies would be poof)

That cold engine boost tuning sounds like it would be annoying but it's for self preservation. They don't want you beating on it until the oil temp gets warm.

I remote start my truck in the cold mornings, then when i get in and drive im at operating temp. I get what youre saying about the cold engine performance, but here’s the work around. Also, with the amount of gear i have on my truck with the camper, IM really pleased with my investment, my truck blasts up hills and along the freeway when i need to just fine, a whole lot better than stock. My only complaint is the gas mileage takes a crap. I havent seen numbers this low since I drove my gen 1 tundra DC. It only helps with the economy if i chill on the throttle and stay lower than 70mph and no revving higher than 3k. Ill get 18mpg.
But to each their own, im sure it’ll sell if you were to pull it off and box it up again

hmm, if your not happy with it like the other post says "remove it" sell it before the economy is crap and no one will want it.

Maybe a tune could solve your issues? Overland Tailor seems to offer custom tuning for the SC.

Yes but it could be had for cheap compared to the 3.5.

It’s not the same one, this one is actually a new and improved version, based of the TVS1900 supercharger they make which is applicable to other makes of vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler. Magnuson was the official supercharger producer for toyota till the 3rd gen, then they made a kit which is built specifically for the taco to sit atop the engine and connect the air box. It’s looks way different than the 2nd gen supercharger

No they did not, not for this engine or any other.

    edit,
Let me clarify, this specific super charger has never had TRD logo for any engine. Magnusson made supercharger kits for other tacomas / tundras with TRD logos, using other SCs and for different engines.

My suggestion is to get the YOTAWERX Stryker tune, its what all the kids are doing on the forced induction side.

OP, you try running a smaller pulley?
I know with the second Gen boosted trucks that seems to be the ticket to getting out of the meh phase and into the clenching of butt cheeks phase.
