So I'm going to order a magnaflow 5x8x18 exhaust and want to make sure I order the correct one.

From my numerous searches I have found most of the info I need but one piece of info.

I want to order the 2.5" in/out, center / center correct?

I plan on having it welded to the existing pipe.

(I have seen a few posts which said they ordered center / offset, and also have seen posts saying center / center so just wanted to confirm before I ordered)

    Thanks for your help.

To tell which inlet/outlet configuration you need, take a look at your stock muffler to see how the in and out are located in relation to each other. My 2.7 standard cab was center in/offset out... but yours could be different because of different years, different models, and different engines. The muffler shop will need to add at least one small length of exhaust pipe to make up for the shorter muffler.

I'd highly recommend getting the larger 22 inch long 5x11 oval Magnaflow.

I had an 18 on my truck and took it off because it was too loud for my taste. The 22 is really deep and mellow even with a 4 cylinder. :)

You don't say what your truck is or the engine. For the GenII 4.0, you will want a center/offset muffler. Your shop can make either work, but center offset is easiest.

Visual always beats "Internet knowledge", thought all the Gen2s were center/offset.....

Yes, of course... because it already has a TRD exhaust on it. :)

My truck doesn't have the TRD exhaust on it.
I'll take another look but I'm %95 sure that the stock muffler that is on it is center / Center.
It might just look center / center but actually might have an offset I guess. I may take a tape measure out there with me and for piece of mind.

Anyone else know if I should be orering center / center or center / offset?

I think I know the problem, the center/offset on the Tacoma is vertical alignment, not horizontal. Pipes are horizontally aligned, but vertically, there is a difference.

    You got it Lurkin. :)

I'm just surprised that a TRD sport model doesn't have a TRD exhaust. What's the point? Is it just TRD stickers?

Neither TRD packages come standard with the TRD catback. Those are after-sale options or the dealer will need to add it on when they order the truck. TRD packages are for the upgraded suspensions and tuned to either Off-Road or Sport. The sport is also the only one that comes standard with the hood scoop. There are other differences as well. You can go on toyota and build one out to see the differences, or google search.

    Thanks for the info. :)
It was just a misconception I had that Toyota would put TRD exhaust on a TRD sport model as standard equipment.

Funny as it was, I test drove a DCSB, non trd model with a TRD exhaust and TRD intake. The dealer ordered it that way. Dealer was asking more than I wanted to spend on a non TRD model, so I walked. I had my heart set on a TRD Sport.
