So I'm doing some shopping to replace the factory head unit on my 2011 (non-JBL). It looks like adding the iDatalink Maestro is a solid choice. However, they've got two models, the RR and the RR2. The 2 has a few options the older doesn't, but the 1 is much more readily available.

I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with both, and can say if there are any features specific to this truck worth waiting a week or two to get the newer model, or if the older model will do the job.

Only experience with the RR but no complaints. I do have the JBL version and this kept everything simple from Crutchfield.

main thing RR2 just allows you to have 3 programmable outputs. the RR doesnt. it also has bluetooth programming after initial programming. but once you set it you never reallly touch it anyways

example. lets say you set putting car into reverse as a trigger. you can have it turn down the radio volume when it detects it. then go back to normal volume when u take it out of reverse.

70 bucks price difference between the 2. not worth it really. i was going to buy it. thinking maybe i could do how RAM trucks do now. where you can turn on the lockers from the touchscreen. but so far i havent found any radio decks that allow you to turn on the programmable outputs from the radio deck using RR2
