    Hey everyone,

has anyone heard of SideTracked Offroad? They have some machined beadlock wheels for a really decent price. Just curious if anyone has any experience. Other wheels I’m looking at are Battle Born Wheels and Ultra. The Sidetracked wheels are about $700 less for a set of four than the other options. Not my absolute favorite design, but for the price I can look past that.

Ya, I’m aware of both those points. Being DOT legal isn’t a concern for what I’m doing with it.
Vast majority of aftermarket wheels are lug centric, and I’ve run lug centric for years and years on my Tacomas. Sure, I’d prefer hub centric, but it isn’t a deal breaker for me.

Never heard of them but they look solid, not the best looking as you stated but I'd run them especially at that price. Glad to see more beadlock options coming out. I've been running ultra 103x beadlocks for a few years. They're also not hub centric, they measure 108mm at the bore, never had any issues. I think most of the beadlocks I've seen especially for Tacoma's are lug centric.

I also considered battleborn wheels since their shop is an hour from me. Good stuff and people there, I would have probably went this route but I got my ultra's second hand for a steal.

Ultra’s and Battleborns are great looking wheels, and I’m not against spending the money, but the $700 difference is substantial. Enough that I can look past the less favorable design. I was ready to buy a set of battleborn’s before I found this beadlock. I would love to see a set on a 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen before pulling the trigger.

Not a bad looking rim by any means, personally I think it would look even better all powered coated black. Really at that point you're just paying for a name an slightly different look, most of them are casted aluminum that's been machined and usually flow formed. Unfortunately there also doesn't seem to be a lot of ifs Tacoma guys overall running beadlocks but heck I wouldn't mind seeing how they look as well just for the sake of it.

They actually can be had in all black for actually $10 per wheel less. Again, a bit surprising how cheap for a beadlock. Maybe that is part of what is causing me to pause on it haha.

Those seem real cheap, maybe figure out where they are made and from what specific aluminum. Would love to get the weights of the wheels too.

    Also,
Look into Trial Ready. Long history of abuse and many options to chose from. This is where I would go for Beads. They are pricy.

As you would expect they are made over seas. They are a cast aluminum wheel as well. I asked all these questions to the owner yesterday. The wheels are 45 lbs!! Heavy! For the price all of that is probably expected. Again, I just need to decide if it is worth it to me to step up another $700-$800 for better wheels.

Honestly they'll probably be fine if all you are doing is crawling with them. I wouldn't necessarily trust them if you plan to hammer on your truck.

And is the DOT thing still coming up? Not once has anyone been hassled about having beadlocks on the street. Not DOT approved and against the law are 2 different things. You can put non DOT approved aftermarket headlights on your truck and not get ticketed for them.
