Wanting to get my truck painted cause the paint job I have is faded, some parts chipped, and some parts the clear coat is flaking. Is Maaco a good place all around or does it depend on individual Maaco’s and their staff. Plus how is their paint. Any input on alternatives would be helpful too

Have you ever heard the adage you get what you pay for?

Depends on the package you get. (Last time I was in one, the cheapest package was like $300.)

The best part is, you can get your truck painted for $300.

The bad part is...you now have a $300 paint job.

It's depend on where you live. In my city is a NO (North central Florida). Googling your local Maaco body shop to find out what peoples say.

Every place is different simply because of the people working there will be different. One thing to know is a huge factor in how the paint job comes out will depend on how well the surface was prepped. You could do some of the prepping and hope the job comes out better. It all depends on what you are wanting from this paint job. I would watch some youtube videos on maaco* paint jobs first and especially ones where people did a lot of their own prep work.

I've had a few older vehicles painted at Maaco. To get a decent job without paying a crazy amount do all the prep yourself. They will just mask and spray, which inevitably leads to paint chipping/flaking at some joints. Remove everything possible you don't want painted; like grill, windshield washer nozzles, badges, door handles, lights ect. Also opt for the 2nd stage clear. For the most polished outcome, I'd also suggest staying the same color as stock, or at least the same color family. You don't want to pop the hood and see a completely different color which screams that your truck has been resprayed. Also had a friend that painted a yellow car dark blue, all the chips in his paint from then on were bright yellow spots on a blue car. It looked awful.

I heard Maaco/earl scheib places do a decent job as long as you do the prep work yourself

I'd echo most everyone's opinions, skip it. I had one painted when I was young so I have direct experience. Pay a real body shop or don't do it at all unless you want your ride to look cheap.
