Hey everyone, I have a lunar rock third gen that I just finished building. I've also been learning guitar for a little over a year and my friend is working on a custom guitar for me. So obviously I'm looking to make a lunar rock "TRD pro" style stratocaster. Unfortunately, we are having a hard time finding exact paint matches. Does anyone have any known good sources for lunar rock for an application like this? Prior attempts are too blue, just not capturing that greenish/khaki lunar rock appearance that is so important for this project to be successful.

Appreciate any help. Looking forward to sharing pics of both the guitar and finished truck in the future. Thanks.

    Neat project!

Most auto parts suppliers (not chains like Auto Zone) mix paint, you will be stunned at the price of automotive paint.
Try your local NAPA store, if they can't help you they will be able to direct you.

As far as the actual application on wood I have no clue. :notsure:
You might ask at a long established body shop for some advice - a guy who has been painting for 20-30 years has probably done some different projects along the way.

Look at different shades of gray-leaning 'seafoam green', it's in that spectrum.

Got on eBay and order some 6X3 lunar rock touch up paint. A rattle can if you don’t have a spray gun and a pint if you do.

I kind of doubt you would be able to find anything off the shelf that would be all that close.

    Yeah.
I've used this company before as well, good stuff. Looks like they call 6X3 "Urban Khaki" so listen to grandpaw. Pretty sure it's just lacquer paint so should work fine on a guitar.

Our Napa paint guy would take your code, mix you an exact match, then put in an aerosol can for you. Add an automotive paint grade clear (also in aerosol) and done! You'd probably be in for around $50-$60 all told.

I stripped & refinished one of my guitars in nitro-cellos lacquer about 20yrs ago. It's now a natural relic..:D

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Can't wait to share the finished project. That cement guitar and taco are SICK.
