So yesterday I hit a nail or some glass and it ruined my front right tire. Leaks out completely in about 5 minutes. They are at end of life, so I was getting ready to replace them anyway.

So today, Saturday, I wake up put on some shorts and I go out to begin the process of putting on the spare as I will have to wait till Wednesday or Thursday for my new set to come in. I looked up the lug nut size, saw 21mm. So I went to get a socket, I get home and it... Only fits 1 of the 6 nuts on the tire...

    What?

It doesn't fit any of the rear lug nuts, and only fits 2 on the front left.

I called the dealership just to ask what the spec was, they said all of them should be 21 mm. Then I called the local family smaller dealership where I bought it from, and he told me that he seen this before we're apparently they never actually sold the factory so you end up with all these different sizes if you ever have to replace them.

Has anyone else seen this before? Do I just need a 22 mm?

Those bullshit chrome caps swell up and become distorted. Better get a 21.5 or a 22 to get them off.

A 21.5mm.....? Man, I feel like I'm going to be cruising around all day trying to find one.

All right, well for the future are there any good quality replacement ones I can get? I really don't want to have to worry about keeping two different tools around.

I know dorman makes one piece solid lug nuts for dodge trucks that suffer from the same problem. And good luck finding a 21.5 in any parts house or tool store, I bought mine off the Matco truck. Can probably find them online.

Shoot at this point I'd rather just get some solid steel ones or something. Well stainless steel so they don't rust too easy.

Alright I'm going off on an adventure to find a 21.5

I would go talk to some techs in a local shop and get the number to the local Matco dealer. He probably has one. More than likely a 22 will work

If you go back in the shop at any Toyota dealer they have a 21mm and a 22mm for rotating the tires.

You could buy a full set of locking lug nuts to fix the problem.

Does anyone make just straight up steel/stainless steel lug nuts? That would be so much easier.

So I called all my local Parts shops, call the local mechanics, and the tire shop where I order my tires at, and none of them have ever even seen a 21.5 supposedly.

I guess I'll go to town and get a 22 and just see if that works. I don't want to round them off though...

If you don’t need it today. Google 21.5mm socket. Look for “damaged lug” drivers.

Alright so the tire place called back and said they can remove them but they really recommend replacing them. So now I'm looking for non-chrome lugs.

Any idea what the size is when buying them?
