If you search Gearcruncher's A750 Thread, you'll see he's a fan of the Lubeguard Platinum additive. I've added it to both our trucks and my wife's 06 still shifts smooth after 196k.

Yes , Lube guard was never available to the general public in the past . It was only available to transmission shops and dealerships . Now that the stuff is available to Tacoma World members through Amazon , I highly suggest using it .
Lubeguard is a top notch additive . Read their proven facts at their website .Read what it does
Every transmission I overhaul or service gets a bottle .

With this said , there are additives that can harm your transmission . Most additives turn to acid after their short life is depleted and your new transmission fluid is instantly wrecked .
Lubeguard is designed to stay working with your fluid until your next transmission service is due . Its good stuff boys !!
You dont have to believe me , call any reputable transmission shop for their opinion . I already know what they are going to tell you

That's extensive coverage of auto transmissions in your excellent thread.

I'm not a huge AT fan growing up with four on the floor and never worked on them much. I generally don't use additives but Lubegard seems legit. We used to use a molybdenum additive to transmissions that actually worked, looks like Lubegard is the 21st century version.
    Thanks for the good info.

I was hoping to try Lubegard in my transmission but I cheaped out and bought it from Amazon. How can Amazon ship a bottle of transmission fluid with no cap in a paper bag?
    Lubegard-Amazon_2.jpg
The Lubegard got all over the MTB handlbar grips in the bag with it and made a big mess at the post office it was delivered to, making me pretty popular.
    Lubegard-Amazon_1.jpg
Now Amazon is hassling me over a return/refund. I would advise buying the Lubegard at a local retail store. In the long run, after returns and hassles, Amazon is not much of a deal.

Unfortunately, Amazon censored my review about the leaking Lubegard shipped with no cap and are hassling me over a return. I know everyone loves Amazon, but between censored/deleted negative product reviews, the selling of personal information and a big increase in defective products, I'm cutting back on buying from them as much as possible.

Anyway, I picked up a bottle of Lubegard Platinum at a local parts store where I ran into a super cool guy who knew a lot about Toyota transmissions. I told him about the hack job Alexander Toyota had done on my transmission service and he offered to take a drive with me to check the tranny.
Within a couple miles, he told me he thought the transmission was about a half quart low on fluid, which would about match the amount the Toyota dealer had sprayed on my engine and front of the truck. He suggested I add the 10oz. bottle of Lubegard Platinum. If it was too much ATF and the tranny acted abnormal, it would be easy to drain a little out. Easily added the Lubegard through the line to the transmission cooler.
After driving the truck for awhile, there is a noticeable improvement in transmission performance. The noise between shifts(chatter?) was gone. The shifting was crisper with no lag or delay. Between filling the transmission to the proper level and adding Lubegard, the transmission is working much better. For the price and what you get, I definitely recommend Lubegard Platinum.

Pretty pitiful that a guy I met in an auto parts store knows more about Toyotas than the employees of Alexander Toyota, whose walls are covered awards for "expert" service. I bet Toyota gives those awards to every dealer.

Which model of lubeguard would you recomend? Coming up on my second 60k mile full (11+ quart) trans flush via diy 2 to 3 quarts at a time method via the trans cooler line. I have never had any problems with my trans but would you still recomend lubeguard?

This is the first time I've used it, with good results.
@gearcruncher knows more about it than me.

    Gearcruncher,

I have a 13 Tacoma pre runner double cab with the 4 speed auto transmission. I bought it with 45k and did a drain and fill with Toyota fluid at 60k.

will be doing a second drain and fill soon. What Lifeguard additive do you recommend I add in? Transmission shifts fine but think of long term preventative maintenance.

If you're not having any problems, why waste the money? Use good quality ATF and there's no need for any extra additives for your transmission. Usually a good ATF will have a well balanced additive package already added to the base stock at the factory. Key word is BALANCED! By adding more additives to your ATF, it may create an unbalanced fluid mix that may hinder the performance of the fluid. It's like a good steak ruined with too much A1 sauce. If the steak was seasoned correctly, there's no need for any A1 sauce. All this steak talk making me hungry.

"Shudder Fix" made my problem go away, crazy, never believed in those snake oils. Have 265K and had the rumble strip feeling at 30-40 mph
No more, all is well with adding that little tube!

Put in a couple hundred miles of mixed driving, the transmission definitely is working better than without the Lubegard. Much crisper shifting, much quieter.

A half quart high or low wont make one iota of a difference how the truck drives. Did you accidentally drink the lubeguard, because that is the only way half a quart would make your transmission noticeably improved.

I am starting to sound like a Lubeguard salesman lol .Ive been pushing this additive since I became a member back in 2011 . Its now been used by well over a thousand members with excellent results .
I am fairly certain , you guys at Tacoma World wouldn't be using this product if I hadn't pushed it on you over the years . I suggest continuing to use it
Its the LXE additive they use in the supplement that makes the stuff work so good. Its like adding a super catalyst to your factory transmission fluid . LXE is something not found in factory fluids . All their products carry LXE . If I had my choice , I would be using the 15 ounce platinum bottle .
