I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm a newbie & and couldn't find answer by searching.
Manual says to lube & tighten bolt. I don't have a mtce. manual. Is this something that y'all can explain to me, or do I need to buy a mtce. manual?

    TIA,
    Deke

Propeller shaft is what Toyota calls the driveshaft for some reason. You just need to get a grease gun and some quality lithium grease and pump some into every grease port (aka zerk) until grease starts getting purged from the u-joint boots.

Depending on the model year and whether or not you have 4x4 you will have between 0 and 5 grease points.

Propeller shaft is UK English for a driveshaft.

In UK English, a driveshaft is a half shaft in US English.

A torque tube is like a propeller shaft or a driveshaft, but without U-joints at both ends.

The prop shaft(s) bolts/nuts can be found on the end flange yokes of the front and rear driveshaft. Torque is 65 ft/lbs for all bolts/nuts.
Hold the bolt with an open end and use a socket with long extension on the nut. The extension helps lessen the misalignment because of the torque wrench's head.

OK, now that I know propeller shaft=drive shaft, I'm good to go!
    Thanks again!

Slip yoke isn't greaseable. And prop shaft is common language but usually refers to the front shaft. Calling it a driveline is not correct and even more common. People assume that it's a driveline because it's strait. Pet peeve of mine.

bunch of stuff - Bro Pro style

    Wait.... I'm confused again......

OP has a 2016 OR... could have as many as 5 u-joints.

He should have at least 3 - 2 for the front drive shaft and one @ the rear of the transfer case/tranny.

Some newer build 2016 trucks started coming with sealed rear drive shaft towards the end of the production year.. eventually in 2017 they are all sealed. The 3rd u-jount has a cover you need a 10MM deep socket and an extension .... and sometimes need to rotate the shaft to get a proper seat on the zirk... coast a tad in driveway and try again.. that's only one that is somewhat of a challenge in that it's a tight fit for the lube fitting.

Likely originated from propeller or prop (boat). Very common term in agriculture and around the world.

    Old thread.

What driveshaft lube are you guys using?

I was using this stuff before. Toyota tech gave a couple tubes to my buddy and said it was the best stuff.

Wurth doesn’t make it anymore so I’m just wondering what’s the lube of your choice. Laugh all you want ya animals.
