Hi there Taco Members; this is my second thread so forgive my inexperience. Just got my new 2021 TRD Sport and wife n I find that it’s a little too tall for us to get on and off. See, I’m 5’3'' and she's 5’1'' so I was thinking of lowering the truck. I’ve done some research and found a lowering kit from "S.O.S Performance" which lowers front end by 2 inches and the rear by 3 inches. Any input on this kit or any recommendations on other kits would be appreciated. I’m 72 years young and this will be my truck for a long time. My last truck (Peekup), which was a 1992, Dodge Ram 50 which we had for 27 years.

steps are cheaper and easier than lowering if getting in and out is the only reason

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I will agree with the others, steps are going to be way more cost effective

The truck has the predator tube steps but it’s just not enough. We’re willing to pay the 500.00 plus Instalation for the kit if it will help. Just wondering if anybody has done this ‘mod’ and how did it go.

Everyone is telling you to use the step solution because a lowered truck rides like shit. Get different steps.

I would lower it evenly all around. A little rake is a good thing.

Joe, I went with the SOS kit and love it. The kit dropped the truck just enough so that it now looks like and is easily entered into as a 2WD truck should be.

The installation is pretty straightforward and although the instructions could be better they make sense once the installation is started. The hardest part of the install was trying to bend the muffler hanger down so that the muffler wouldn't rub on the leaf springs. Just no room to pry down or swing a hammer to bend that hanger but we finally got it to move a little bit and then re-positioned the rubber exhaust hanger.

One last tip, pay a shop to do the install. The install really needs to be done on a vehicle lift along with the front struts need their coil springs unmounted so that the coil spring perch can be modified.

Thanks for the tip, and yes I will have a shop do the install. Maybe some pics of the final look after the install.

I should add that the SOS kit arrived within two days of ordering. SOS was able to fit their kit into a large flat rate Priority mail box so it moves pretty quickly through the post office. All parts were there which is always a plus.

Although we didn't need to reach out to SOS others have posted that they have very good customer service. Only advice I could give SOS is for them to create a you-tube video of the install.

One of my faves. And I do believe you can only get it in a manual transmission.

Anything that goes against the grain and upsets the delicate sensibilities of fanboys is awesome in my book. Some of those lowered trucks look great.
