Lowering kit recommendations?

I have a 2012 SR5 pre runner that I want to lower about maybe 2-3 inches. I do daily this truck since it’s a 4 banger so I’m not sure if it’s going to make the ride worse for me. Do you guys have any lowering kits you recommend? As well as any other parts needed to make the kit fit well. I’m not sure if I’m going to need new struts and shocks for the kit to work so just guide me through the process so I don’t make the wrong purchase :3

 

Because 5 lugs and 6 lugs have different suspension.

would this still work on a 2wd tacoma? This one says for the 4x4.

 

It should work on any 6 lug truck of that gen, since the 2wd 6 lugs and 4wd 6 lugs have the same suspension.

 

nice, yeah it’s just that an idea came to my mind. Found out that the Tacoma models had an x-runner trim and I really loved how they look so I wanted to lower it a couple inches and find the appropriate parts such as the bumpers. Possibly the side skirts as well I believe.

 

So is your truck a 6 lug or a 5 lug? That kit will not work on a 5 lug. But DJM has a good kit for the 5 lug trucks.

 

I mean I like a nice El Camino as much as the next guy but just wondering, why would you wanna lower it?

 

no this one comes with 6 lugs thankfully. I don’t wanna end up buying the wrong parts and in the end make them nice gardening ornaments.

 

I just really like they way they look. Not super slammed but just low enough that they’re not scraping on the tiniest pebble.

 

Handling and performance. If you don't use your truck to haul heavy loads but still need the bed space for lite hauling, then lowering it doesn't cause any issues.

 

the 4 bangers can’t really tow anything more than a Mini Cooper and I don’t really haul anything other than one or two car bumpers and groceries.

 

Or at least mine can’t tow anything.

 

Fair enough man, I'd hate to lose the ability to do anything truck-like in it but to each their own, good luck

I’m in love with how it looks already, mines is also white as well. I was thinking of putting nitto tires after I lower the truck.
