I have an 08 4wd tacoma, when I purchased it, it already had the 6" lift on it. Now I'm trying to find a good way to lower it to help with the cv and tire rod angle. Ideally I'd like to have it set up without spacers. What would be a good coil over to get it about 2-3" lower?

Unfortunately it’s not easy or cheap since a section of frame was cut out to install the lift kit.

Posts some pics to confirm it was a db kit. If it was the cv angles should not be bad. Maybe the lift was done differently.

Not a whole lot you can do with the existing kit. Maybe you can get smaller blocks in the rear and the king/fox/icon coilovers meant for DB lifts, but I’m not sure the coilovers would go that low. Another option is switching the 6” out for the 4” DB lift.

Negative CV angles anyone? Or does it have additional lift from some other product?

I put a DB lift on my 2nd gen way back when. I also wanted to lower it but without removing the lift it would put the suspension in a weird position along it’s travel range.

Sounds like it has a 6" DB lift AND spacers...
@Beans - we're going to need a bunch of photos to help you out here.

Here's a pic from when I had the wheel off, if there are more specific pics that would help, let me know and I'll take some more.

That’s quite a predicament. To me ( I know very little) the cv and tie rod angle is much more exaggerated than the LCA. It looks to me like fixing the cv angle will put the LCA at poor angle and lower your ground clearance.

Can you get a pic of the removed part of the crossmember? I’d like to understand the install better and see if and how much the front diff is lowered.

Also, the locking nut for the outer tie rod needs tightened if you didn’t already.

Here's a picture of the removed section of the frame and yes that jam nut did get tightened.

I think I’d try to section in that missing piece of crossmember. I’d try to get as much of that crossmember as you could from a junk yard and burn it in at a point that thick and easiest to get a torch around. Maybe even reinforce it a bit. But that’s just me and I’m not there to see it first hand.

A 6” drop bracket lift should realign your CV’s fairly well, sounds like you have more than 6” of lift. If you have a spacer on top, make sure it’s the right size and find set of used OEM shocks/spring coilovers that go with the spacer, or purchase a proper set of coilovers.
