I have a 2021 Access Cab SR5. I would like to add steps or boards or pipes, but I don’t want them to protrude out too far….really for appearance more than function. I put some on my 2016 but they protruded out and made it harder to get in, not easier.
    Anybody have a recommendation?

My $0.02. Steps are ankle and shin magnets. Boards are either too high or too low and stick out too much or not enough. The oval oem boards I have serve no purpose to me since I can step in without using them and they get in the way when stepping out. I only have them because short people need help getting in and they complain it’s still too high, I did a small lift so it’s true.

I got the alumin oem boards and they are high and tight to the cab. Not that i really needed them but it covers the rocker pinch weld, protects the paint, preserves my seat cushion, help the 3 ladies in my life and look good (imo) and has a liner type coating for grip and best won’t rust.

it took getting used to at first because I didn’t really need it so a different entry approach and now it’s habit.

What brand are those ? I agree that I just want something decorative to cover that weld . I prefer chrome.

2nd gen OEM boards fit our 3rd gen, lots of guys here use those as I did. I think that they look pretty good. They completely cover that pinch weld. D4D3DF65-13EE-403C-ABD0-71820AB71018.jpgE6406CA0-EAF4-4CE7-805F-044B5D30ECA0.jpg

Best looking in my opinion are rock sliders. The cheapest I have found are from explore overland and I actually placed an order with them while they were running a labor day deal and a guy on TW gave me a $100 discount code on top of it. You can get them angled up so they really cover that weld so you cant see it at all.

Not sure the quality as I have not owned these. Maybe someone else can chime in. The steps are removable though, and it looks like they’re angled up and sit close to the cab. I know they’re not real sliders but these may work for you. Just a thought. They also fit our access cabs
