Have a 2006 Tacoma 4.0, I'm looking for a good air intake for around $200. Kind of a silly post but I love a loud intake :D, trying to find one that has is noticeably better than stock:evil:

I had the K&N intake on my '07 prerunner. It was pretty loud, particularly under full acceleration.

The sound that an aftermarket intake makes is kinda awesome, but the filters they use are typically junk.

Trading the health of your engine for a little noise sounds like a bad idea.

(K&N drop in filters are the worst, IMO)

The open style K&N is deff the loudest I've found. I put a dry AEM (owned by K&N now) filter on it and it isn't as loud as before. Look in the for sale section, got mine for $120 as a lot of guys here don't like them and prefer the closed box aFe.

OP, I have the AEM Brute Force Intake system pictured below and it's very loud. I picked mine up used for around $200.

I had a K&N on a 94 F150 I6, 93 Bronco 351W V8 and a 2005 Ford Ranger 4L V6 (worst f***ing motor EVER Gutless POS!!!!!!) and they were all loud and mean sounding. I felt like acceleration was better and especially going up steep grades I felt like my rigs were not being stressed as much. After a much needed lift, bed rack, CVT, and lights the Taco will get a K&N. My personal preference same with my loyalty to BFG. There is always a spec sheet that will beat you in one category or another but with the luck I have had with K&N & BFG I won't be looking at anything different.
