Loud ticking noise in engine, should I be worried/make a fuss at dealer?

My engine seems to be making quite a loud ticking noise when running? I can’t quite put my finger on it but it doesn’t sound normal and wondering if you guys have come across it and if it’s normal or worth making a big fuss over because I know the dealer will blow it off as normal. Also there’s lots of metal glitter on the dipstick when I wipe it on a piece of tissue paper. Lots of grey metal and it’s WELL past the break-in period. I’ll attach a photo after of oil but first here’s a video of the noise. Owned many trucks but never a Tacoma and never heard the engines make a noise like this.

It is a noisy little engine, but to be safe, I would take it in so it's documented. While you are there, and have their attention, I would compare it to a couple on their lot.

Glitter isn't good ever. You may see some first oil change due to break in of parts but past that, bad ju ju. If under warranty, take it in and quit driving it.

Might be worth sending a sample off to Blackstone. Can't hurt to bring it in and see what they say.

Make a fuss; no. But definitely change the oil and filter asap and save some for analysis. And do get the ticking noise looked at and documented by your dealer. That's about all you can do at this point. And remember, be nice! :)

well if it’s this noisy and everything’s fine then ok, but I’ll definitely bring it up to dealers attention. I have a service 3 and full diffs, transfer, transmission oil change coming up along with engine oil as well. I’m surprised I’m seeing lots of grey glitter on the dipstick at 45,000 miles.

Also sorry for lack of video and picture I keep trying to upload it but I can’t seem to make it work adding to my frustrations for the day.

Is any noisier today, than it was when you bought it? That may alert you of an issue.
I am not saying you don't have a problem, just that the engine is noisy, and this comes up often. Many around here seem to create problems in their mind, especially as warranty period comes to a close.

Definitely louder than when I bought it. I’ll go get it checked out at the dealer. I’m just surprised I wipe dipstick on some tissue and it’s half grey half golden sparkling like some fairy princess.

Save some if under warranty [just a couple of ounces] and send it in to see what metals are excessive. Pull it off with a small diameter hose under vacuum and drain it into a glass container. Before transferring it to the shipping bottle, shake it well to get all the metal particles into suspension.

I would noy change oil, I would have dealer look at it first and have it documented. Then do oil+filter change and do UOA. If dealer wants to do oil change, drain some from the filter beforehand.
